Is it really that hard of a poll??? Anybody that can take off from the free throw line has to be the best athlete in ANY list...no questions asked!

08-31-2008, 05:22 PM

dead @$$, i voted for rodman before i clicked the link. he's just insane. he could run, jump, rebound, dive and all of that stuff.

08-31-2008, 06:05 PM
I would have to say Jordan, because I lived in chicago till 98 and I saw his whole career and saw him live. I would have to make a case for kobe and pippen too, Pippen was amazing alot of people dont give him that much notice or credit because he was under the wing of jordan shawdow!

08-31-2008, 06:18 PM
On any other team Scottie Pippen would have clearly been the star. I'd have liked to have had him at Houston earlier and for longer.

08-31-2008, 06:53 PM
guys, doesn't say best player, it says ATHLETE! that does not mean the best basketaball player, it means the player with the most intangibles. rodman gets my vote.

08-31-2008, 06:54 PM

Athlete? Jordan was the best player ever at his chosen profession (basketball) but he was also a decent baseball player and the man can golf, no question. He is hands down the best athlete in that group.

08-31-2008, 08:49 PM
definitely Jordan. How can anyone deny that lovable Jew?

This poll makes no sense. Phil Jackson already gave the answer to this question. Doesn't his vote cancel out the rest?"

I understand why he said Rodman. “He could probably play a 48-minute game and play the 48th minute stronger than the first minute of the game,” That's a strong statement right there. Don't get the term "athlete" confused w/ the term "basketball player." I don't think anyone would argue who the best basketball player Phil Jackson coached is. But as far as pure athlete (and not just jumping either!).

When I was in High School I used to play a lot of pick-up basketball games. I had a friend named Meyer and this dude had to be the best athlete I ever competed against. I hated guarding him because he ran the entire game. I mean ran me to death. He wasn't the best player on the court. He would hit a few jumpers here and there; but his biggest impact was on the boards, making hustle plays, playing passing lanes, wearing down his opponent... much like Rodman.

Conversely look at a guy like Larry Bird. Not a good athlete at all but a pretty good b-ball player.

Excuse me but what about Jordan Farmar and Samake Walker guys they're terrific!

What About Rick Fox!!!

Phil Jackson based his view on stamina.

So according to that logic, a marathon runner is a better athlete than Usain Bolt. Ok..

09-01-2008, 12:58 AM
I don't think the result is that shocking honestly.

Rodman was an amazing athlete in his prime. You can't dominate the boards like he did at 6'6-6'7 without being a great athlete.

I'm not sure I'd go as far to say he was a better athlete than Jordan, but he was no slouch either.

09-01-2008, 01:18 AM
rodman was a beast he should be a hall of famer but im not sure he was more athletic than michael jordan

09-01-2008, 01:22 AM

09-01-2008, 01:32 AM

Why is there that many immature responses here? I thought PSD had quality posters who were all "over" the stage of stupid responses to get attention.

Anyway, my vote goes to Jordan. Take off from the Free-Throw line, amazing dunks, breathtaking layup's that shouldn't and wouldn't be made by anyone else, the ability to not feel the heat of pressure.

Rodman was an unbelievable athlete, a freak of nature - but the best athlete he has coached? Come on. Best energy guy, hustle player, tough guy... OK fair enough - but not best athlete. This goes to MJ without a doubt

09-01-2008, 09:58 AM
Best athlete (as he said it by himself): Rodman.
Best basketball player: Jordan.

09-01-2008, 10:01 AM
