A second high fastball, if you call his fastball fast, was ridiculous. It appears Okey missed a sign, given Varitek's reaction after the pitch. What a 24 hour turn around! Still a fine series and road trip and hoping for a tendonitis diagnosis today.

okajima's precipitous dropoff from last year has left everybody incredulous, including tito, we expect the old oki to reappear. he brought us a ring last year. let's thank him and move on. it's hard but we've got to do it.

This overreaction is ridiculous. Okajima's drop off has done nothing of the sort. We are now seeing the Okajima that most people expected when he was signed and while Tito may with for the old success he is hardly incredulous.

"Let's thank him and move on"? Perhaps move on from completely unrealistic expectations. If that's what you mean then you're right. Otherwise calm down and keep things in perspective: the Sox have a $1.75M option on him for 2009 and that's pretty cheap in the current market where SU men regularly get $3.5M+ For that money he could be a match up lefty and be considered a bargain.

He has been good this year. Hasn't been as good as last year, but nobody has. The actual pitch wasn't that bad it was almost shoulder high problem is oki only throws 80mph.

Any other pitcher throwing 90+ gets that by him or fouled off.

Tek shouldn't have shown him up either. Tek should look at film of his AB's , Oki should throw his arms up when he K's. Nevermind... his arms would fall off. :D

i agree that he's still valuable and a bargain and at the very least a lefty specialist. but we can't want him to be a savior in tight situations and multiple innings.

If you want to look back to yesterdays game....Okajima did NOT throw the worst pitch. Giambi just put a good bat on a fast ball that was belt high.

The worst pitch of the game was the (0-2?) pitch by Papelbon. Varitek set up inside corner where he owned giambi the whole at bat.....papelbon misses 2 feet to the right and ends up middle outside and all giambi needs to do is stick his bat out. That was by far the worst pitch of the game.
