barkley...correct me if im wrong but he's a lot tougher than KG. KG isnt a softy but he's not clutch and he doesnt like to dominate.

So you'd rather take a guy who is slightly better offensively, and has a better scorers mentality (which takes into play the "clutch" that is referred to) over the person who is a superior defender?

EDIT: I'm not trying to say Garnett is the obvious answer, cuz IMO it's pretty close, and I can see an argument for both players. Just wanted to throw the other argument out there...

How is it not very close?

They both have very similar stats, and team accomplishments... I know they both are different players, but I'm just curious on what makes one far better than the other?

all im saying is you could depend on barkley in the end of games. KG used to be my fav player but i noticed more and more how horrible a clutch player he is and how scared he gets even when open. he is better on defense, and im a strond believer on defense wins games, but was barkley bad at D? i dont ecall honestly, but either way, id take a tougher player over a player that gets scared

Barkley wasnt bad at defense, but he wasnt great. He never made an All-Defensive team in his entire career.

Garnett has made 9 All-Defensive teams so far, and I'm sure he'll get a few more... I think it's safe to say Garnett is a far better defender, and one of the best all time.

How was Barkley tougher? Cuz he barked at everyone? KG does that too... :p

This comparison is sort of like comparing Hakeem with Shaq or Dwight with Yao or even Isiah with Stockton. It could work both ways.

Yeah, that's how I think of it.

I see arguments for both players, and I think the answer would depend on team need. Barkley was the better scorer, while Garnett was/is the better defender. Both can/could shoot a great midrange shot... both are/were excellent rebounders... I think it's closer than a lot of people think, as it seems like most think it's Barkley by a lot...

Garnett. He doesn't whine as much as Barkley about random stuff, he hasn't spit on a ref or any of that stupid stuff. If I am the one building the team (ie: team management), I would much rather have the better guy on my team because I think while they play very differently, they get pretty similar results and at that point I don't want to have to deal with bailing my star player out in the eyes of the media every 6.9 seconds...

I'd take Garnett. Pretty similar numbers but I love KGs passion to win.
