SEMIFINALS

New Orleans vs. Houston
Winner: Vote here!

--------------------------------------
From now on, each poll will have a voting time of 7 days. This applies to each matchup until an NBA Champion has been determined.

--------------------------------------------------------------

FIRST ROUND

LA Lakers vs. Portland
Winner: LA Lakers, 4-1 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262911)

Utah vs. San Antonio
Winner: San Antonio, 4-3 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263580)

Houston vs Phoenix
Winner: Houston, 4-2 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262913)

New Orleans vs Dallas
Winner: New Orleans, 4-2 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263577)

The total of votes for each team will be counted (all 4 options together) and the team with the higher total wins. Eventually, the result will be the option with the most votes (out of 4 options) of the team that has the most votes altogether.

Example:

If the option which has been voted most out of all 8 in the poll is "Memphis in 6" (20 votes), it doesn't necessarily mean that Memphis has won. If Memphis has 50 votes (Memphis in 4, 5, 6 & 7 altogether), but New Orleans has 55 votes (New Orleans in 4, 5, 6 & 7 altogether), New Orleans is the winner, although it didn't have the most votes in any of its 4 single options. The option with the most votes of the winner (New Orleans) is the final result.

Let's say:
Memphis in 4 = 10 votes
Memphis in 5 = 5 votes
Memphis in 6 = 20 votes
Memphis in 7 = 15 votes
Total = 50 votes

Now lets say New Orleans has
New Orleans in 4 = 12
New Orleans in 5 = 13
New Orleans in 6 = 17
New Orleans in 7 = 13
Total = 55 votes
The winner would be New Orleans in 6 since they would have the most votes total overall and thus the option for them that was voted the most is New Orleans in 6 would become the final result.

Rockets in 7

Call me a homer, but I think the addition of Artest really will help them. He can provide more defense, and help out on the offensive end. This should be a good series, but I do expect the Rockets to prevail.

Houtston in 5 ...

T-mac and Yao ... you know
Artest and Battier are the best defenders in the league.
Paul won't penetrate that easy and Chandler will find it harder to get Paul's passes.

Yaknow I honestly hesitated for a second before I voted for my team in 7....because the Rockets have had a recent history of getting scorned by point guards in the playoffs....namely....Deron Williams....David West also has just abused the Rockets in the past few seasons....Chandler and Paul on the pick and roll scare me....and that's about it....I think the defense has gotten so much better with Artest though....Hayes, Artest, and Battier are all elite defenders....Yao can patrol the paint decently, T-Mac can be good at times, and Rafer has gotten better....so I think the Rockets D is enough to get them past the Hornets in 7.....

I'm not sure, they are pretty even. I went with Orleans just because they have more experience now, but it could go either way. 7 games for sure

I don't see anyone out West stopping the Hornets this year. I said the same thing last year but I was proven wrong. I think last year's loss to San Antonio will help them out come Playoff time

Paul is the best player in the series, but for some reason, the rockets always seem to play pretty well against the Hornets.

I think the NOH have the advantage at the 1 and 4, but the Rockets have them at the 2,3, and 5. Looking at the benches, Houston's bench is better.

Mike James = Francis
Morris Peterson < Barry
Rasual Butler < Shane Battier
Mel Ely < Carl Landry
Hilton Armstrong < Deke Mutombo

Houston has no answer for Chris Paul, but NOH has no answer for Tmac. Artest wins his matchup and West takes his. Chandler can at least slow Yao down, and to me, even though NOH has little depth, posey makes the difference. NOH in 7.

i went with houston in five. The hornets sucks and shouldnt be a 2 seed at all./. 2 seed should be S.A

if bruce bowen couldnt keep cp3 from penetrating in the lane, neither will battier & artest, guarentee u that.

PG: CP3 >> Alston
SG: Posey << T-Mac
SF: Peja < Artest
PF: D-West >> Scola
C: Tyson << Yao

Bench: Mo-Pete/Wright/Bonzi < Battier/Landry/Head

This is would b a really good series. if every1 stays healthy, i gotta go w/ rockets in 6.

when you state opinion at least back it up don't just pick a team. i say houston in 5 if they have home court and houston in 6 or 7 if they don't. remember once san antonio put bruce bowen on peja after game 2, the hornets only won one game and houston can put battier on peja and then still have artest to guard paul or even west who isn't that much bigger even though he bossed dirk around lol.

I'm not the only one that said "Hornets in 5" so go look at the other post before you try to get on me for saying that, Rockets don't have an answer for Chris Paul and he's to fast for Ron Artest to guard him.

I think the mere presence of Chris Paul, West, and Peja could push the series to seven games.

There is more rockets fans than hornets fans on the board and thats why the rockets will win. The Rockets have to prove T-Mac and Yao can stay healthy for a full season. They aint getting past the 2nd round. The hornets are a much better team.

but this is the playoffs. i dont care if t-mac and yao miss 15 games if they are healthy for the playoffs. I say take the same approach as the celts did with the lakers. let paul get 30 points and shut everyone else the **** down. if you put a tandom of artest and scola on west it will keep tought D and a fresh defender on him all game. Yao will absolutely stop chandler. Battier plays perferct D to stop peja from 3 and the nall you have to worry about besides paul is posey. im srry but i the 2 of them are enough to out dcore t-mac, artest, scola, landry, yao

Well this is assuming that the Rockets are healthy....and if they are healthy....they have better players than the Hornets even though CP3 is the best player on the floor....it goes:

Paul
Yao
T-Mac
Artest
West

So the Rockets have 3/5 best players on the floor, better defense, a better bench, better 3 point shooting (by far), and a more experienced coach....if they can at least contain CP3 by a little....I say Rockets in 7....

Houston in 7, Yao has played brilliant against New Orleans in the past and the only capable player on their team of guarding McGrady is Posey, Artest locks up Peja, Yao locks down paint, and the only threat is CP3 who will take it to 7, but in the end Houston has just too much firepower

Houston will win this series in 6 games because Yao Ming's height is too much for anybody on the Hornets to handle. And Houston will anihilate New Orleans defensively.

Yao vs Tyson Chandler (Though Tyson Chandler seems to always put up a good fight vs Yao, Yao is the most dominant center in the league besides Dwight Howard

Scola vs West (West is an all star so he wins this matchup but Scola has the ability to stay with West and can put up a fight)

Ron Artest vs Peja (All Peja can really do is shoot 3's and Ron is one of the best perimeter defenders so that totally takes Peja out of the game. Ron can also help Scola on defense and can put up double digit points)

T-Mac vs Mo-P (Mo Peterson has nothing on Tracy, Tracy will completely dominate Mo Peterson)

Rafer vs CP3 (CP3 totally dominates this matchup just like Tracy dominates Mo-P)

Hou Bench (Battier, Barry, Hayes) vs (James Posey, Julian Wright) NO Bench= (Houstons bench just completely dominates New Orleans bench especially if they are able to sign back Landry and Deke. I think this defenitely pushes Houston to the win)

So basically, Rockets win the matchup at center, small forward shooting guard and the bench and the the Hornets win at Power Forward and Point guard.
Good series but the Hornets rely too much on CP3 so the Rockets take this one.
