Before any talks of homerism ring out, I want to make it loud and clear that I am a Laker fan, not a clipper fan

The Clippers have gone under some serious transitions this offseason, with Elton Brand leaving along with Corey Magette. But they've also brought in a group of very talented players.

I will run them down position by position and give you my take on why I think they will make the playoffs this season.

Point Guard

The Clips have both talent and depth at PG. Baron is obviously the starter here, a homegrown star, one of the leagues best. He can do anything asked of a PG, and he has pretty good size at 6'4. Behind him are vets Jason Williams and Jason Hart. Williams is a talented passer and scorer with championship expierience, which is why I think he will get the majority of the Minutes behind Baron. Hart is a pretty darn good third stringer, a vet with good size and a decent stroke. Eric Gordon and Cuttino Mobley could also log a minute ot two here. Mike Taylor has an outside shot at making the team.

Shooting Guard

The Clips are 3 deep at SG, and the competition for minutes here should be fun to watch. Returning is grizzled veteran scorer/shooter Cuttino Mobley. His size is a detterant though, and he could end up being the oddman out here. The new guys are Lottery pick Eric Gordon and the troubled talent Ricky Davis. Davis is a selfish guy, but he can drop 20 on you every night. Will his attitude continue to plague him? or can he nab the starting job? Lottery pick Eric Gordon is undersized, but very talented. I see him nabbing the starting job around February or March.

Small Forward

Tim Thomas and Al Thornton form a pretty good SF Duo. Nothing great, but decent to good. Thomas is a vet that can score and rebound, and his length can cause trouble for other forwards. But Thornton is the jewel here. Last years lottery pick really came into his own down the stretch, and he can really score(second among rookies). I see him really flourishing in his sophmore campaign. Steve Novak is a 3 point specialist who could see minutes here, as could ricky davis.

Power Forward

Marcus Camby at PF intrigues me. Camby is a great help defender and arguably the leagues best rebounder, but a poor man defender with little offense outside of an ugly 'jumpshot'. Can he mesh here alongside Kaman? Time will tell. Backing him up are Brian Skinner and Steve Novak. Skinner is a dependable veteran who played well for the suns, and is versatile enough to get most of the minutes at backup C and PF. Novak is one of the most talented 3 point shooter in the league, but cant do much else.

Center

Chris Kaman is a stud. 15 and 12 young center who will only get better. The caveman can hold his own against anybody and will be a key for them this coming season. He could lead them down the road to the playoffs. Behind him are Vet Brian Skinner and rookie Deandre Jordan. SKinner is a good backup center but only 6'9. Jordan is a rookie thats very raw but has tons pf potential. Could be star, but won't do much, if anything, this season.

Personally, I think the clippers could surprise and nab the 7th seed.

Thoughts?

they will be a lottery team this year.. Top 5 pick...
You lost your best players in brand and maggette and only gain in injury prone pg in Davis and scrap players in Ricky Davis, J Will???

I dont even think they could compete for a playoff spot in the east...

The West is tough, I don't see the Clippers making it to the playoffs. The loss of E. Brand may be tough to overcome. I like the players they have acquired, but I don't see them making it to the playoffs.

Top teams out west: Lakers, Spurs, Hornets, Rockets, Jazz, Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Nuggets.

The Clippers would have to battle to get the 8th seed.

I don't think they're going to make it. EB was the heart and sole of that team. They've now lost EB, Magette, Cassel, and Livingston...........the key components that made them a decent team a few years back. Kaman put up good numbers on a horrible team (not too uncommon), Camby is getting old, Mobley is old and washed up, I like Thorton but Thomas is a waste of space, and Baron Davis is a stud but he's always injured. Bottom line, they're not going to make it.

I don't think they are a playoff team. They have no low post stud, Kaman is good for 15, but nothing more. Camby is terrible offensively. Baron will get his points, but Williams sucks now. Mobley sucks now, Gordon is a rookie, and losing seems to follow Ricky Davis everywhere he goes. I like Thorton, but he isn't ready to be a nightly 18 ppg player. Tim Thomas? Is there a bigger waste of potential? He sucks. The Clippers will be lucky to win 40 games. I think they finish around 35 wins, in the lottery. They do have a decent future though.

I would hope the Clippers do well. I always wanted the Clippers to do well. I want them to bring the city respect. But they are always the joke of the league. I still root for them. I just hate that Clipper fans have the biggest inferiority complex. And the one year they were actually decent, their fans were running around talking crap about how its a Clipper town now and the Laker run was over. I see this team being decent. I think they will be right there for the 8th spot with 3 or 4 other teams. They could be anywhere from 8th to 12th.

possibly, but I don't think so. The Nuggets are worse this year, for sure, but they still have two of the best scorers in the league, so they will win a bunch of games. The Clips are going to struggle. There is nothing they can do about it. They have a few young pieces, but Baron isn't enough to bring them over the hump.

Don't forget about Camby either.

Here's a better question..........any chance Baron Davis leads the league in scoring? He's got pretty much no other scorers on his team now. Yes Kaman can put it in the hoop if you feed him some easy ones but by no means is he going to get as many shots as he did last season. Camby is just terrible offensively, Mobley is looking pretty washed up and Thomas is just a spot up shooter............which means B-Diddy will have the ultimate green light. We all know that Baron likes to chuck and he has far less offensive firepower on the Clippers than he did with the Warriors. I could see the Clippers tanking this season and Baron Davis scoring 30ppg on like 39% FG. Anyone else?

Do you think orlando will want two injury prone players?

The battier trade on the other hand might be accepted but i doubt it i think this is the best looking rocket team in a while and battier and the Rocket Gm knows that ... a great defender that can put up 15 is hard to come by.

That was my bold prediction.

I think Baron might surprise people and lead the league in scoring.

If not possibly top 3.
