Sixers Name Jeff Ruland Assistant Coach
Aug 22, 2008 4:20 PM EST

Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski announced today that Jeff Ruland has been hired as an assistant coach. Ruland's main area of concentration as part of Head Coach Maurice Cheeks' staff will be to work with and help develop the Sixers post players.

"That I am able to add a coach with the experience and credentials of Jeff Ruland to my staff is exciting," Cheeks said. "He'll be an invaluable resource for our players - particularly our big men - and an asset to the organization as a whole."

If u had talked about Tom Thibodeau or Del Harris, this thread would have draw more interest maybe...

Anyway, I'd like to get your opinion on the signing coz i don't know the guy at all. I heard he was a good player but he had a career ending injury. Is he good? Does anybody know him? If yes, is it a good move according to u guys?

This is the move that we needed to get over the hump. We may as well claim ourselves NBA champions now.

Do u know that guy? Any details u could give us?

Chip England (SA - Shooting Coach) or Thibodeau (BOS - Defense Coach) are the type of move that puts u over the hump.

I personnaly would like us to wait the beginning of the season before talkin' of campionship.

Jeff Ruland played for the Sixers in the late 80's and early 90's and ruined his Achilles tendon on a luggage cart. He was very off balanced as an offensive player as he would always be falling down. He used to be a Sixers assistant under Fred Carter.

Stats if anyone cares

I know you were. But how you said it and how you do it in like all these signing threads... it gets annoying.
