Looking to add depth on the interior of their offensive line, the Patriots have signed veteran center/guard Mike Flynn to a one-year deal today, according to a league source.

The 34-year-old Flynn is entering his 11th NFL season. He played the first 10 with the Baltimore Ravens. Flynn has started 115 of 134 career games. Last season, Flynn started all 15 games he played in for Baltimore.

Flynn's signing represents a homecoming of sorts for the offensive lineman, who has New England roots. He played his high school football at Springfield's Cathedral High School and went on to play at the University of Maine.

Flynn, who came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 1997 and spent time on the practice squads of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before re-signing with Baltimore, augments an injury-laden interior of the offensive line for the Pats.

Starting right guard Stephen Neal remains on the physically unable to perform list. Backup guard/center Russ Hochstein was hurt in the Patriots' pre-season opener against the Ravens on Aug. 7, and reserve guard Billy Yates suffered a pinched nerve in his neck/shoulder playing on special teams in the Patriots' 27-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday.

I think its a nice move

Lol not a big move, but it definitely adds a little depth. I think that ever team needs some depth on the line because of all the injuries that happen there. Solid signing by the Pats. Don't expect him to play much but he'll try to look his best over on the sidelines.

I love how the colts fans consistently have some of the most thoughtful posts on the Pats boards. Cheers to you guys.

One of the most bitter rivalries, and the Colts arent the ones still calling the Pats cheaters.

Yeah i think Colts fans are the only one's that come in here and actually have something positive to say and post intelligent thoughts. A few Jets fans are that way too.

Who cares what players say......shut down PSD. Nobody matters anymore......:D
Belichek doesn't say anything pertinent either.

We should get rid of announcers too.

All we need are the cheerleaders and some hard nosed football. The rest is a waste...:p
