In game dunker is probably nique. he is probably my favorite dunker of all time, he was good at both dunk contests and the like as well as in game dunking.

Edit: But you can't go wrong with any of the guys mentioned...

Julius Erving. The windmill dunk is a classic, and he was so good at dunking.

I like powerful in game dunkers the most. Not acrobatic so much.

So Kemp for me and from active players I'd say LeBron. It's just amazing when he jumps so high and throws it down with force.

VC hands down.

He still has the best dunk ever too.

His dunk at the olympics on the seven footer.

I'm near T-dot so I gotta give love to early VC days.

Shawn Kemp was so nasty... it looked like he wanted to break the rim everytime he threw down.

MJ, Dr. J, Dominique, Darryl 'Chocolate Thunder' Dawkins. So many dudes, but if I had to choose the best in game it would either be Shawn Kemp or VC because along with power they added crazy athleticism to it also.

they all probably didn't watch atlanta or they're still under 18 :smoking: just playing...

but wilkins was the best in game dunker, hands down. i mean, in crunch time he wouldn't be looking for an open shot or force a jump shot - he'd attack the paint, cradle the ball - automatic 2 points. you don't believe me, then go back to that classic bird-wilkins collision.

does his 20 career dunks qualify?

KJ isn't close to the best even based on height. Robert Pack, Steve Francis would both be comfortably ahead of him. But KJ was a good dunker even if he only does have 20, but Im sure thats wrong.

I don't know if its just the nostalgia talking, but I feel like back in the 90's the dunks were so much sexier. They used to have a lot more finesse. I feel like nowdays every dunk is either a straight up tomahawk or some variation of the tomahawk. Jump as high as you can and throw it down as hard as you can. Back in the day tho, they always did diff things, like double pump, windmill, they would use their whole body and always do something to entertain the crowd on breakaways, go up one hand then bring it down two hand, or add little clutch effect, or bring their knees up to add some style, just diff things like that. I wonder how/why the dunks evolved away from that.

Thats why I loved nique's dunks so much, he did the same, always did a lil something to entertain, but always threw it down with authority. Like a sick combo of back in the day dunks with today's dunks. Untouchable imo

Man, talk about an old thread!

For me it will always be Dr. J because the man just had style. He made dunks a thing of beauty, not simply a demonstration of pure power or athleticism.

Lol seriously, I like how a thread from 7 years ago was just nonchalantly bumped. This thread outdates my time here even. We've had it a few times since too.

Anyway, at this time Blake's hat has to be thrown into the ring with Kemp and Nique for the in-game power dunkers, even if he let up the gas significantly last year.

Vince carter's dunk over Weis earned him this title even if there are more consistent in game spectacular dunkers. He jumped OVER a 7 footer, and was a cause for that 7 footer to retire from the nba. Tmac is second.

Damn this thread is old. Best I've seen is easily Dominique. That's what earned him his nickname.
