Lots of good rookies this year.

Looks like the rookie of the year award is wide open this year.

What are your thoughts?

I think Beasley will have the best chance, and then after that a tie of OJ Mayo, Greg Oden, and Derrick Rose.

OJ Mayo will be a bust. you heard here first. Id take Derrick Rose

Bleh, Rose or Beasley or Oden , no matter if Kevin love posted a 30/20 season or if Rudy Fernandez managed to take Roy to the bench or if Westbrook leaded the Whatevers into the Play offs.

ROY always go to the ones hyped by the media.

You knew it would be Melo or Lebron, you knew it would be Durant or Oden, since Oden dropped out there was no contest even if Hoford was BETTER than him overall last year.

i'm just going to go out on a limb here and say mayo.. not b/c i think he's the best rookie (i like oden, rose, and beasley more), but moreso on the fact that his team roster just isn't that good.. so i think he can easily fill up the stat sheet.. but i feel the surprise rookie might be mario chalmers w/the heat, kinda like rodney stuckey was this past year..

i was thinking eric gordon too at first, but i thought that the acquisition of b-diddy might take away from him..

its gona come down to rose, beasley, oden.

beasley will probably put up best showings then oden, and then rose. (im a bulls fan), but i think they want rose to be more of a playmaker than anything. i dont see him doing many jump shots, more d-wade style drives/circus shots. but we'll see.

beasley will be a catch n shoot guy pulling rebounds.

and oden.. well hes a center so boards and inside stuff. ive been wanting to see how he will produce :)

If he`s healthy it will be Greg Oden... if not it will be Beasly

Beasley is going to blow it. He has no work ethic and won't be such an impact. I think that guys like Greene or other guys who are going to be in the starting 5 of there team will have to work more and will produce more.
Beasley will probably come off the bench and so is Rose. Guys like Mayo will have to contribute from the start and in there first year will be much more impressive.
However, b-easy and rose will have less pressure coming off the bench and will develop better in the future if they stay focused.(that is for Beasley)..

I like this rookie class, lots of talent.

I see them blowing out the sophmores in the Rookie Challenge at All-Star Weekend.

I say Oden. He is probably going to average a double double and 2-3 blocks a game. If not him, then either Mayo or Beasley...Gallo will be good, but first he has to get used to the NBA. He will be very good though...mark my words!

I think Beasley will win it, he will have around 16-8 and Miami should be a playoff team, or at least close, which would be a 20-25 game turnaround. I think Kevin Love is 2nd, the Wolves should win around 10-18 more games as well, and he will start and get big minutes. I see 12-9 in his rookie year, with some highlight outlet passes to get on ESPN

Like I said before I'm not sold on Rose either.

Hopefully he can live up to the hype though because I feel sorry for Chicago who have gotten many guards from the draft for the past serveral years.

Jay Williams
Crawford
Hinrich
Gordon
Rose

Maybe finally they will get the right guy to run the team.

It will be out of a couple of people to me:

Derrick Rose
Greg Oden
Michael Beasley
OJ Mayo

I think the point is to pick one of those players. I think it's a pretty safe bet that it's one of those four. As much as I want to say D. Rose, it's probably going to be Beasley.

superkegger
08-20-2008, 05:32 PM
I think it will be rose or beasley. because those two guys are so talented in and of themsevles, but at the same time, they both are going to teams that aren't necessarily that bad. Lets be honest, its not all that far fetched for the bulls and the heat to both be playoff teams. And with the better quality of players around them, they'll have a better chance to succeed. While I wouldn't be surprised if it were someone else like Mayo or Westbrook or something I think it will be Rose or Beasley.

I think that Rose is the second best player coming out of this draft, but the hype machine basically forcing the Bulls' hand in taking Rose over Beasley is going to bite them in the backside a lot over the next five or ten years.

Oden doesnt stand a chance? Wow... the guy was picked over Durrant last year, now he's had a year training with NBA coaches... If healthy this guy will probably dominate the C position in his era, but he doesnt have a chance to win rookie of the year???????

Knicks845
08-21-2008, 09:07 AM
Its either between Beasly or Oden simply because there teams have the best chance of making the play-offs out of most rookies.

Well, it's not likely. Even if he does dominate, he's expected to be a defensive monster, which doesn't look as good on paper because you don't rack up stats that way.
Also a few guys might leave him off their ballots because he's not a "true" rookie...

Honestly, he really, really, doesn't...

He shot horribly and turned the ball over three times per game as a 6'10" stick at the power forward position against decent college competition.
He's going to get posterized in the NBA...

Maybe I'm wrong, but come back to this in five years...
