If you were to build a team around a player and you wanted instant success and maybe 2-3 years of contending who would be your Franchise Player?

Duncan,Dirk, T-Mac, Kobe, Nash, Iverson,Arenas,Garnett,Pierce,Brand,Carter,Billups .

And if the idea was to build a team that could compete not inmediately but for a long time?

Bosh,J Smith, Beasley,Wade,Rose,Lebron,Bogut,Howard,Cp3,Ming,Oj Mayo,Roy,Oden,Durant,Jeffersson,Deron,Bynum,Gasol, Stoudemire.

Id chose Duncan in the first case and Ming in the second.

I would chose either Lebron of Howard. Lebron because he can play pretty much any position and Howard because he is the best center in the NBA, from my pov. He scores, rebounds, blocks shots...he does everything a center is supposed to do. I chose him over Duncan because I don't like anyone on the Spurs at all except for Parker.

Duncan, he is the most proven and has won as the best on his team more times than anyone in the league.

Garnett because he has at least 4 or 5 good seasons left in him. Howard or CP3 for the long term.

Garnett is 32 and I doubt he'll playing so good at 36 or 37. That's pretty old. Even with that said he will be my second pick behind TD. He has everything you need to win, talent, experience, plus no ego or no problems. For the long term I would choose CP3 because he's young and he has proven to be a top PG in the league. Plus he is a guy who makes everyone better around him. CP3 the second best 23 year old in the World(LBJ)

Good, not great, so 16ppg 3rpg a few assists and maybe a block. At 32, 33, 34 and 35 Dikembe Mutumbo was still playing some good basketball. Averaging 11.0ppg 12.6rpg 2.8bpg and 1.1apg. Ok so maybe i should be expecting more from Garnett.

To win now, Duncan.

For the future, LBJ.

Has to be Lebron in both cases.
Lebron James is the best now and is 5 years from his prime.

TD(easier to build around bigs) or kobe(best in the game arguably)

then im stuck between wade(proven champion) LBJ(freak athlete) howard(best big) or CP3(best pg)

basically, id take any of them i could get in the 2nd one. if i had to choose...howard then cp3. i love wade but his game leads to injuries and lebron seems fragile. as solid as he is, he seems so false arrogant. plus hes limited since hes so big but doesnt play in the post.

Right now.... either Lebron or Howard. Lebron is the best in the game, and Howard is a big man who is only going to get better and better.

But you also have to consider KG's game and his strong points. KG isn't an offensive banger. He's more of a finesse player. Almost like Bob McAdoo. I think KG will be one of the best bigs to ever do it after 34-35. His game will allow him to stick around longer at a high level. For the simple fact that he doesn't take many hits on the offensive end and he has a more than serviceable mid range game. He plays great defense and his fundamentals are excellent. He's always been a freak and he's developed his game into one of many facets. I think he'll have more late career success than a lot of great bigs. Then add in his hunger, passion and love for the game. Wow. I think KG will above average until he's about 37.

I'd also take Duncan and LeBron.

y isnt james for now? if you can surround him with good players then he would win a championship.

But for the next 2-3 years

lebron could easily win for the nest 2-3 years if he has a good team built around him

Perhaps, but until proven wrong you go with what is proven and Duncan is really it.

Lebron for SURE

jmiller26
08-20-2008, 12:20 PM
I think it's funny how everybody says lebron for the future. Sure, he has a great future ahead of him, but heck he's the best player in the present. How could you pick anybody else besides him. The man, i mean beast, single handedly beat the pistons 2 years ago, and almost beat the champs by himself this past year. Look at all the other superstars. They're surrounded by other stars. Kobe with Gasol and Bynum, KG with Pierce and Allen, Duncan with Ginobili and Parker, and even Howard with Lewis and Turkoglu. Lebron is the only superstar who doesn't have a robin.

NYMetros

I would pick Tim Duncan because my team would be in the hunt for a ring until 2011.

dwight howard in both cases. He is dominant. for the present....i am assuming that the team built around him is better than what is in orlando now.
