Hope he's okay :(

BOSTONóBaseball Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski was hospitalized for tests Tuesday after experiencing what his spokesman called chest pains.

The spokesman, Dick Gordon, said Yastrzemski went to Massachusetts General Hospital in the morning.

"He had experienced some chest pains and he's in for testing," Gordon said.

When asked if it was serious, Gordon said: "Any time you are in the hospital, it's got to be pretty serious."

The 68-year-old Yastrzemski was baseball's last player to win the Triple Crown in 1967 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.

I'll be praying for him.

I just made this thread in the MLB forum, not knowing you made it here.

I, along with all of Red Sox Nation, not to mention everyone in the baseball world, will have him in our prayers. Let's hope he gets through this.

"He just got out of surgery, had his triple bypass and is resting comfortably," Gordon said at about 8:30 p.m. "The operation was a success."

Yastrzemski's family said the triple bypass was "a complete success" in a statement released Tuesday night by the Red Sox.

"We are most grateful for all of the prayers and support we have received," the family said.

Hopefully the recovery goes well. Yaz is such an icon in this city, it'd be the worst sports blow since Ted's passing.
