View Full Version : Former Rockets' Green: It's Been Crazy

HOUSTON -- You have to pardon Sacramento Kings rookie forward Donte Green if he stills doesn't have a grip on things. Green landed in Sacramento late Thursday night to join his third NBA team in two months.

"It's been crazy," Green said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "Young guy coming out of college, you expect to be drafted and stay with one team.

"I have experienced the business side of the NBA very quickly."

Green goes to the Kings as part of that blockbuster trade that sent forward Ron Artest to the Houston Rockets. The deal was not finalized until Thursday because Green signed one month ago with the Rockets. NBA rules state a player cannot be traded after he has signed for one month.

Green was sent to Houston draft night after being taking by Memphis with the 28th overall pick. He was then traded to the Rockets as part of a three-team deal. Now he is setting up shot on the west coast.

"It was hard," Green said. "I had my fiancee come in and she was very comfortable in Houston and she was going to school at the University of Houston.

"My best friend was coming to Houston too and he was going to school at St. Thomas."

Now all of those plans have changed.

"When the trade came about I was upset, but at the end of the day I am happy to be in Sacramento," Green said."

The 20 year old 6-9 forward in essence is joining his fourth team in less than a year. He only played one season at Syracuse averaging 17.7 points and 7.2 rebounds as a freshman.

When Green heard about the trade he was playing in the same summer league in New York as Artest.

"When the trade was made my agent sent me a text message," Green said. "Artest played in the game before me and I shook his hand and then found out about the trade."

The two will meet again soon when Green and the Kings take on Artest and the Rockets
