View Full Version : How much will AI command when he signs his next contract?

Allen Iverson will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

If this most recent season was any indication, he shows little sign of slowing down. His 2007-08 numbers:

G MIN FG% 3P% FT% REB STL BLK TO PF AST PTS
82 41.8 .458 .345 .809 3.0 1.95 .15 2.99 1.33 7.1 26.4

So let's say for the sake of argument that his numbers take only a slight but not significant dip. Going into next season he'll be 34 years old, and my guess is that he'll be looking for no less than a 3 year contract.

How much do you think he can command in the market next summer? Keep in mind, the pool of available FAs next year ain't gonna be so great.

10-15mln? or vet minimum...

i don't think he will be worth more, but he always can make surprise by accepting vet minimum... :)

It deppends on wich kind of team he gets involved.

If it is for the Nuggets and they promise him to make a run at a good fa i could see him settling for the MLE.

I think he would also command the Mle to join a second line Conteder wich hecould make a REAL contender example, Jazz, Magic, Sixers...

Going to a LOUSY lottery team would mean asking for at least 12 million a year.

I could see him joining Boston or L:A for Vets min tough

My bet anyway is MLE to Sixers, he has unfinished bussiness there.

Miller, Iverson, Iggy, Brand, Dalembert...... GO FIGURE!!!!

if he does take a lower dollar amount, i think there a few teams he would go to. LA or Houston wouldnt be fair. but other possibilities maybe the Hawks and the Magic. Interesting scenario: him going to charlotte to play for Coach Brown. that would be funny. as far as the sixers go, i dont think thats gona happen. plus as a sixers fan i dont want it to happen.

I could see him getting the full mid level exception or somthing but there's no way he's gonna get 20 mill again...I think that was one of the reasons he didn't opt out of he contract with the Nuggets because he knew he wasn't gonna get 20 mill anywhere else.

id welcome him back to the Sixers for the MLE (cus thats all we could offer)

Iverson doesnt belong anywhere else... He's a Philly guy.

Love him or hate him he represented Philly basketball durng the best of times.

4 years at 50 Million with like a team option on the 4th year or something

I think like a 3-4 year contract, starting at 12 million, then decreasing every season. average of about 10 million per season.

I think similar to the Maggette situation from this offseason. He should get the MLE but then some team will come out and overpay. Iverson is getting on in age don't forget, it might be hard for him to find a team that is willing to throw even $40m over 4 years at him....

i think AI is still a proven guy who can definetly run a team, i expect him to bounce around and alot of trade rumors before he signs with a team and Allen will sign a 3 year 55 million dollar deal .... he is worth 18mill, there is no way he would sign for less then 15, he would rather retire... allen the answer iverson is one of the biggest names and best scorers in the nba for the past many years!

3 Year Deal around 45-50 million.

Yea he's going to get a nice deal. He's still WORTH 15 per. I would like to see him take a pay cut and go back to Philly though. I just want to see him get the title he deserves.

i could see a 3-4 year deal for 8-10.
The most likely scenario will be him going to a place that needs him as a final piece.
While I don't know that he's all the 'Cats would need, I think he'd fit in like a glove there and make them an East elite. The combination of players balance out very well. Plus it'd draw fans to the arena finally and maybe the "6th man" would finally have an impact on this team instead of just showing up for big games or when big stars come.

he wont take the vets minimum. not when there's teams out there willing to pay 60-80mil for him. i see him taking the vets minimum in his last season in the nba if he just wants to win a title

I think it depend's on the team.. Iverson said he would reconstruct his contract.. so I don't see him lookin for that much money.. What I c him lookin 4 is a ring, so he might take less to join a team such as L.A., Boston, or houston, but not that low he want's 2 make a nice bit of money 2

superkegger
08-15-2008, 01:04 PM
I think the amount he signs for is completely dependant on whether or not the nuggets want to keep him and how long AI wants the contract to be. With that said, if i had to say a dollar amount, my guess is he'll end up with a 13 million 3 year deal somewhere.

Nuggets will probably sign him for as much as possible, then trade him to some other team so they can get the most value in return. That's the best case scenario for all parties involved.

He'll get alot of money, but I'd like to see him take less and go to a contender. He deserves a ring! Not too many players DESERVE one, but he does. I'd like to see him go to Philly and win a ring there. When I think 76ers I think AI

12-15M/Year unless he wants to take a paycut and go to a contender if the Nuggets can't succeed the next seasons.

He owes the city of Philly a championship. He has unfinished buisness to take care of, and a lineup of Miller/Iggy/Iverson/Brand/Dalembert is just screaming championship.

Take the MLE Iverson, you have so much money in endorsements/contracts/incentives you don't need more.

Go bring a Championship to Philly and I guarentee you will be pleased :)

Lol at 23LBJ. I'm going to agree a lot but I'm going to give a number. I honestly don't think he's going to be playing for more than three more years so probably 3 years $60M? Around there anyways. I know he's going to get a ton of offers and maybe because there will be a bidding war maybe that dollar amount goes up. I do know that he still has some basketball left in the tank. I also wouldn't be surprised if he sticks with the Nuggets. I might be wrong about that but I'm just saying that that's a very good possibility.

imo he gets a similar deal to what vince carter got last year........something like 3 year 38 million around 13 mill a year. i only see him taking less if he signs with a definate title contender like the celtics or lakers

AirJordanXVIII
08-16-2008, 10:13 PM
Maybe like 3 years for like 36 ish...

But then again MAYBE that slight little chance, he comes back to us (Philly) to win that championship for the MLE.

Nothing. He'll bolt back east to try and win a title before he's too old to contribute.

He doesn't owe Philly anything. And that lineup does not scream championship. It says obvious contender, but it's not like they would have the Celtics lineup.
