I was just wondering, why isnt he on the Olympic team?

Was he not asked to be?

Or did he not want to be?

Anyone know?

He's too old to do it. He probably declined. They asked for a like 2 year commitment this time.

What about J-Kidd?

Dude, J-Kidd is the only exception. Name another player over 30. They asked for a huge commitment this time. Older players didn't want to commit that much time.

The reason is because he's too old and he needs to rest his old knees for the new season,
he cant handle playing alot of playoffs games, finals and then go to the olympics and then he gotta go to training camp wow hes knees will be wayyy too tired and hes gonna be wayyy to tired when the next season starts

I wish Kevin Garnett was playing his butts off in the team USA. Paul Pierce too. and Ray Allen.

but we can't have everything.

He would be a big addition to their team.

He already won his gold medal in 2000 so he probably doesn't want to play. I don't think anyone on the current team has won one yet.

I would love to have KG on the team, but it is easier for PGs and SGs to get up and down the court compared to PF/C, and in this case a real old one.

they dont even need any of those players, they'll do just fine without them

why did amare decline? probably his knees i guess. he's a young good player that would fit this system.

yeah, Duncan is not a fan of the international game, if you watched the 04 games youd have seen why. But yeah but KG and Duncan declinded to play.

Kidd does.

I think he declined just because of general health issues, not specifically his knees.

Of course we'd love KG on the team, he is an athletic big man who can run up and down the floor. But the fact is, he couldnt commit for 2 ro 3 years (whatever it was). And i dont blame him, he repped his country in 2000, and won the gold. After that, he was focused on winning a NBA chip. (which he did :))

I thought Garnett and Duncan were the only players that declined Colangelo's invitation?

Are you sure Amare was asked, or maybe he just didnt make the cut since he was coming back from injury at the time of them "recruiting"...

Why would you want Duncan on the team? He was one of the worst, of the worst in '04. The zone defenses crashed on him and rendered him defenseless. He also couldn't stop hackin. K.G is just a stronger version of Bosh.

KG declined because he already won a gold, and at the time you needed to commit, he was far more interested in winning a NBA championship. Duncan doesn't like the rules, he thought he was fouled every play (wow, that is so unlike him, even though in his defense, he was getting hammered with no call). Amare would be terrible, he can't guard anyone, and would get backdoored to death. We have enough dunkers
KG is the perfect international player. He can shoot outside and in, plays defense, passes, and makes his free throws. He would be a monster upgrade over Howard and Bosh. I am not saying either of them is not a great player, he is just perfect for international.

Pierce, KG, and Ray would all be great to have. all have already mastered playing with other all stars.

KG, shooting big man with world class defense and brings a lot of intensity

Pierce, creates a disasterous match up with his size and talent. including that deadly fade away midrange shot that almost no one in the NBA can block.

Ray, ill let u guess what hes good at lol.

i wonder if Pierce and Ray were asked to, they probly would have declined. plus Pierce IS injured and rehabbing.

Im positive. Amare was asked and he clearly declined saying hes was healthy but didnt want to risk injury.

You're correct. Amare was a lock for the team. He declined because he didn't want to risk excess wear and tear on his newly repaired knees.

i like bosh in that lineup as much if not more. obviously kg would be great in there too. amare and dwight would clog up the paint too much and neither can shoot. i think with bosh at pf, that is the ideal lineup for the team.

^Amare has post moves dude and throw it up and Dwight wil go grap it. Both are better than Bosh.

Neither of them are better than Bosh in the international game. Neither of them are as quick, offensively gifted or better defenders.

I personally think its kind of a ***** move for anyone to decline a Olympic Invitation, but whatever.
