View Full Version : Patriots place S/LB Tank Williams on IR

Patriots placed S/LB Tank Williams on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

A bigger loss than most people would realize. Williams was expected to have an active role in a shaky safety group, and his versatility was going to allow him to play linebacker in certain packages.

Tank Williams couldn't stay healthy if his livelihood depended on it.

In fact.....

Darn. Not the results we were hoping for. Gotta believe the Meriweather-to-CB experiment might be done for good now.

I can't imagine the Pats bring in Lynch. He couldn't cover Vince Wilfork going out for a pass at this point in his career; he's purely a run-stopper, and with such a shaky coverage secondary, Lynch doesn't help with that.

Like a hole in the ^&$Ģing head....

Okay, if it is Law, it will will come down to $$. How much room do we have to sign him? Now that our situation is more deperate, you know he will ask for more than BB and co. are going to want to shell out. And is it really down to Lynch or Law? Is there anyone else out there we could look at? I wouldn't mind seeing Law back, but this situation is going to force us to pay more than we should.

I don't see why there is all this cause for concern. Tank was a good signing for the value but he didnt really have a true place or position he was high on. He was taking reps at ILB until Mayo passed him in that area and as far as safety goes he wasn't high on the depth chart there either. He is injury-prone and if anyone expected to see him make it through the entire season they're crazy (of course one regular game would have been nice).

As far as Free Agents out there. Maybe bring back in Chad Scott. He was having a good preseason last year before his injury and he knows the system.

Or sign law to a one year deal and then he will be off the books at the end of the year, to be honest at his age no one will sign him for more than a year anyway. The problem might be thou that law still thinks he is special and might want a longer deal which he is crazy if thinks he is a getting a multi-year deal.
