I don't care who wins, I just wants to see the guys fly around and get back into football mode. Can't wait.

I'm really excited to see how Rodgers manages the offense. I will be interested to see how he does with his slants, I'm also pumped to see Grant get some work. I'm confident in our defense, so it will also be good to see them play. Personally I'm really interesed in our nickel and dime db spots, so I'll definately be watching those guys, I'm sure we'll see a lot since Cincy such a throw friendly offense.

I just found out I got tickets to this game. Box seats on the 30 yard line thanks to my uncle. The guy who isn't read to see the Packers move on without Favre gets to see it live. Ironic. I am making a sign that will read, "I'll never forget 4" on one side and, "Now let's go 12" on the other. Should be a great game.

I wouldn't expect a lot out of Jordy or Brohm this year. They are rookies and like most rookies they seem to be in shell shock. Jordy should do fine this year but I see next year being when he really takes off. For QB's its a little different for each guy but it seems like in the West Coast offense it takes 2-3 years for these guys to start getting it.

GREEN BAY -- If Will Blackmon can stay healthy -- and special teams coordinator Mike Stock realizes that's a big IF -- then the Green Bay Packers have their return man on kickoffs and punts.

Entering Monday night's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field, Stock said Friday that Blackmon, who won the return job in training camp last season only to lose it to a broken thumb suffered in the preseason finale, will be the guy.

"He's got lots of talent. We said that from the very beginning," Stock said. "He's just been unlucky physically.

"Right now, the question is, how healthy can he be? And if he can be healthy, we'll see what he can do."

So far, they've seen glimpses. After having his rookie season of 2006 derailed by a foot injury, Blackmon broke his foot again last Oct. 3 and missed the next seven games. He returned and regained the punt return job in late November, and against Oakland Dec. 9, he returned a punt 57 yards for a touchdown and on the coverage unit fell on a fumbled punt in the end zone for another TD.

But he aggravated the foot injury in the Dec. 30 regular-season finale, missed both playoff games and sat out all of offseason workouts. In camp, he's missed a few practices to rest the foot, but he was the primary returner in Sunday's intrasquad scrimmage and will line up on kickoffs alongside Tramon Williams against the Bengals.

"That way, if they want to kick away from one guy, the other guy can take it to the house, too," Stock said.

Stock said rookie Jordy Nelson will also get some work.

Great to hear that all of our return options are available going into this game. Please stay healthy this season Will. At least we have Jordy now who can return the ball as well if for some reason Will gets hurt again. Just from watching highlights from Jordy's K-State days I think he could be really exciting back there. I'm thinking we will be in the upper class of return games this season.

hughest4
08-09-2008, 06:55 PM
Yeah, this news really doesn't surprise me at all. I figured now that K-Rob is gone, Will would be the #1 KR/PR. He is explosive, has great vision, and should give us great field position all season. I like Tramon and Jordy as well...they would be solid options just in case Blackmon went down

robdizzle3
08-09-2008, 06:57 PM
Thanks for that post Socal because I have said for a while now that this is Tramon's year and I still see it that way.We really should cross our fingers for Blackmon because he hasnt stayed healthy

Ryan Grant's availability for Monday night's preseason opener against the Bengals is in question because of a nagging hamstring injury.

After calling the injury slight, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said "If he can go, I would like to see him go."

I'm going to be looking at how all the backup/nickleand dime backs look. I have a hard time beleiving that we will be lucky enough to have both our aging corners play all 16 games this year. Obviuosly our starters are very good, but I want to know what kind of depth we have.

"You think about that all the time," Rodgers said of running through the tunnel as the Packers' starting quarterback. "Definitely, it's going to be an exciting time. Hopefully there will be more cheers than boos.

"Sometimes there's more boos than cheers in my dream. But we have a great group of fans and I'm excited about the opportunity to be one of the leaders on this football team and just get things rolling into the regular season."

Receiver Donald Driver said recently that the 220-pound Rodgers throws the ball harder than Favre and with less touch on short and medium routes, something he never would have said three years ago.

Thank you sir. I think we are all hoping that Rodgers comes out and plays well tonight. I hope the fans don't boo him because none of this is his fault at all. He is our starting QB and i will be pretty upset if he runs out of the tunnel and gets showered with boos. I don't remember ever seeing somebody else start at QB for us so this should be a very interesting night

There are so many things that i am interested in seeing in tonights game.

-QB play from A-Rod and the 2 rooks. Hopefully A-Rod gets a good amount of playing time.

-Will we have a running game without Ryan Grant? Will Jackson step up?

-Which guards play the best

-Is Brady Poppinga or Brandon Chillar the more impressive OLB?

-Which CB is going to solidify the nickel job?

-Was Bigby a fluke or is he the real deal? Does Rouse look better then Collins?

-And NO INJURIES please

Those are just some of the things i am looking at in tonights game. I know we wont see the starters for long but it will still give us an idea of what these players are going to look like this year. Honestly, i can not wait for this game to start already

Well here is Rodgers first test as the starter... I'm pulling for him and the Packers so some of the drama can be lifted off his shoulders. Yeah that definetly was a gun on that post route. I was more impressed with his pocket pressence. Stayed in there till the last second for that window to show up and yes it was a LAZER. Decent looking drive for the Packers that time around. A-Rod looked pretty damn good and it appears like he also has great chemistry with Donald Driver. Like i said earlier i am liking what i am seeing from Tramon Williams. He is playing very good on Chad Johnson by making it hard for him to get off of the line. On that last series instead of giving up once the guy had the ball he was still able to break the play up. Plus, the guy hits like a truck

Nelson hasn't gotten in yet.. You'll see him on returns and maybe some late in the 1st half.. The Packers are trying to prove that Rodgers is the man and that they have confidence in him by leaving the 1st team in there a little bit..

Yeah he has...we've gone 5 wide more then once this game. He's the big white guy at reciever. The only other white guy at reciever is Brett Swain. No way he's gotten in the game yet.

The difference is in years past backup QB wasn't a priority cuz Favre had started every game for 14 years up to that point. Rodgers has shown a history of being injured. If the kid's jacked up for a preseason game I can't imagine what happens during the regular season.

I thought he looked good considering all the BS surrounding him. He has got one hell of an arm that's for sure. He threw the ball a little high at times but nothing out of range for our talented receivers. He threw one pick that wasnt his fault at all. The ball hit Chris Francies (I think) square in the chest and he coughed it up. A couple of dropped balls killed a couple of drives and he just barley missed JJ for a wide open TD.

For the most part I was pretty pleased with the game. I liked what I saw out of Rodgers. I was very happy that they CHEERED him when he came out onto the field. Jackson had a couple nice runs. Our 5 WRs looked good. They should probably just cut that Francis guy now. I wish the OL would've been a little more consistant. As far as the defense goes I liked what I saw out of most of the 1st team guys. Barnett and Hawk were flying around. Rouse made a nice play for the ball on his pick. Collins and Bigby seemed nonexistant but I don't know how long they played. Tramon got either lucky or made a very good play against Chad Johnson, when Chad didn't caught that ball early in the game.
