Vince Carter has proclaimed himself healthy and ready to lead the Nets. Carter told reporters that he was not going to complain about his situation or the status of the roster knowing that he was unlikely to get traded, and said he was not going to demand a trade. It's obvious the Nets are moving in another direction, but with Carter's play in the last year and the dollars he's owed trading him becomes almost impossible; the Nets have tried and there is very little value out there for Vince. Nets sources said not to discount Vince's ability to sell tickets and jerseys and that with less competition for the ball this year the team is expecting Vince's numbers to go way up if he can stay healthy. The belief is if Vince can put up monster numbers with fewer players demanding the ball, his value would increase enough for him to be moved either at the trade deadline or next season. Vince is not going to demand a trade, because he knows as well as anyone; his numbers have to come up before he draws the attention of a team that matters.

I don't know why he signed a deal to stay with the Nets in the first place. Even with Kidd they weren't going anywhere.

I don't see him staying with the Nets no matter what he says. They are trying to clear cap and having someone make 18 million in 2010 is not a way to do that.
