I went with Raymond Felton here. I believe that he is the best overall point guard of all the remaining players.

gotta be andre miller. he lead a very very young team to the playoffs last year... evidence of his incredible leadership. Miller is very very underrated!

First round exit. That isn't very far. I did vote Miller because he is a good defender.

bibby was damn good vs the Lakers in that one WCF. he nearly outplayed Kobe back then, IMO.

but after that, he came back down to earth.

...he's well on his way...but he has a long way to go. the question is this: how would he have looked if he didnt have 3 perennial all-stars to make him look good?

Probably higher average in PPG but lower APG.

Well I think if all these people think Calderon deserves to be up there Ford should be up there b/c he's better. I don't know if he's top ten but he's better than some of these guys.

Before the big three were even talked about in Boston the fans were saying Rondo looked promising and could develop into a star someday. Then the Big 3 came and it just proved our points. Forget the what ifs...We have 3 allstars and that isnt Rondos fault.

Yea just b/c he has great team mates he's in the shadow of these All-Stars. He's getting better with time and when he leaves the Celtics he's going to be a premier PG.

Miller was scoring and having tons of assists a night without having a consistant player that can score/take the load off of him and Igoudala.

Now by getting Brand his ppg should go down or stay the same, but assists should go way up.

Anyhow, I voted Miller. Best one out of them and is probably the most underrated PG in the game.

Yea we could see he was good when he played in Denver but now he's elevated his game. He's better than everybody left and is still getting better.

Im going with Andre Miller. Calderon is pretty good, but Miller has done it throughout his career as a starter, while this was Calderon's first good year.

I said on the last poll that I have a lot of respect for Miller. IMO the Sixers won the trade when they sent AI to the Nuggets. Miller runs the offense and that's what a team needs from a PG. Calderon does too, and that's why it was a no-brainer for Colangelo to keep him this year. Both are top 10 PG's. IMO what order they finish in on a fan poll doesn't matter much. It's what they do for their teams on the court that matters.

It's about time Calderon got some love...him, Paul, Nash and Williams are the only true point guards in the list...although you can make a case to say that Williams isn't...Calderon is a pass first point guard-what they are supposed to do...I think he should have gone higher but that's just me.

Ford's style fits perfectly into Indiana's offense. Ford isn't a top 10 point guard in Toronto but in Indiana he is.

Toronto's offense was pretty uptempo in the last couple of years. That wasn't the problem. Ford can be a very erratic player. He also has poor shooting range - from his college days on he's been a weak 3 pt shooter. He is very easy to defend because of that. Just dare him to shoot and he'll either be hot, or more often, he'll put up brick after brick refusing to give in to the fact that he's cold and needs to pass the ball. If he's the third option on a team he might be very effective, but if he feels pressure to be a scorer he will frustrate because he penetrates brilliantly but can't finish, and often his shots just won't fall. If he learns to stop shooting when he's cold - that is, if a coach lays down the law with him - he'll be more effective. Also, some of his passes are dazzling, but much of the improvising he does is too unpredictable for his own teammates and a lot of drives end in missed opportunities.

How are people not picking Miller. Calderon averaged 13ppg as a starter, Wow!?

Till Calderon has a better year then Miller did in 2001-2002 with averaging 16ppg and 10assists he isn't better.

conway429
08-07-2008, 03:32 PM
How can you refer to a season 7 years ago, when the question is "...PG in the Game Today"
Calderon shared time with TJ Ford last year and still averaged 1.5 more assists, almost half of the turnovers, and shot considerably better FG, 3PT and FT percentages.

PPG is one statistic.....

What about MPG, APG, TPG, SPG, RPG, Leadership, intangibles, etc. . .?

We are also not comparing the best career of a PG currently playing, we are evaluating who is better 'today.'

If we are comparing statistics from 2000-2001 shouldn't Kidd be higher?

So if Calderon averages 13 and 10 next year and Miller averages 5 and 2 next year Miller will still be better because Calderon hasn't matched Miller's best year. Your logic is flawed my friend.

I think the poll is correct thus far that the two are neck and neck.

calderon for sure... compare calderon and miller, calderon has better numbers... better assist to turnover ratio, almost 1.5 more assists per game and shoots way better %s and that was while being a backup for most of the year
