08-05-2008, 10:44 AM
What team will be the best challenge for the LA Lakers for the Western Conference Crown next season in 2008-2009?

08-05-2008, 10:46 AM
Imma stick with Norlins... I dont trust Yao's health, Artest's character, or Tracy's ability to win the in the platoffs...

im actually gonna give them a chance...we'll see...but its definately NO or Houston

08-05-2008, 11:09 AM
Im going with houston but dont sleep on the "REAL BIG 3" Dal, Phx, and SA

08-05-2008, 11:32 AM
H-Towns gonna have a mean asss team this year. I think this year it all comes together.

08-05-2008, 11:42 AM
warriors... lol gotta have faith..

But really I like Houston with the addition of Artest and a healthy Mcgrady and Yao..

08-05-2008, 11:52 AM
either NO or Houston

08-05-2008, 11:52 AM
New Orleans and the Spurs.

Memphis has as much hope as the rest. In my opinion the Lakers will be untouchable if Kobe, Gasol and Bynum are injury free.

08-05-2008, 12:02 PM
I think you shouldve made this post about phoenix on paper phoenix is the best team let me give you a example who would you rather have right now not in there prime either shaq or bynum amare or gasol. Grant or odom. Raja or kobe. Nash or fisher. Even for the bench. Barbosa or farmar. Diaw or walton. I would pick shaq at center, amare at pf, odom at sf, kobe at sg, and nash at pg. I would rather have phoenixs bench with barbosa, diaw, and barnes. Rather then farmar, the machine, or walton I don't mean to knock this post but I think phoenix is the team to beat shaq only played in 29 games so nba watch out there is a new sheriff in town oh never mind he got it revoked cuz kobe couldn't do it without shaq so tell him how is ***** taste lol

08-05-2008, 12:06 PM
San Antonio is still going to be there, but I have to go with the Hornets here.

08-05-2008, 12:07 PM
Utah and New Orleans

08-05-2008, 12:11 PM
Nawlins, Spurs, Rockets

08-05-2008, 01:08 PM
Utah and New Orleans

Ditto. Both young and tough and Utah played them tougher then anybody in the western palyoffs.

08-05-2008, 01:21 PM
Either NO or HOU. This is why I think it's so important to get the top spot in the west this year. If LA gets the top spot, HOU or NO will probably get #2 and #3, where they'll kill each other at the semi finals.

08-05-2008, 01:23 PM
Spurs or Rockets

No doubt Houston can become a championship team if they can work it all out. But I'm going with the Hornets. I see them with a good chance of beating the Lakers.

08-05-2008, 01:36 PM
H-Town baby.. H-Town!!!

08-05-2008, 01:39 PM
Depends on how Houston meshes. But, I'll probably but my money on New Orleans, with the Spurs being able to give them some competition.

08-05-2008, 01:39 PM
New Orleans...

NO was the second best team in the West last year, and until Houston proves it can win I have to say NO is the biggest threat.

08-05-2008, 01:46 PM
For now its the Hornets. the Rox have the potential to be the best team in all of basketball but we have to see how it gels 1st. It could easily blow up since Artest is a certified Psychopath and McGRADY and Yao are an injury waiting to happen.

You Shouldn't Even be allowed to say " if the Rocket's Stay Healthy" ANYMORE BECAUSE IT HAS NEVER HAPPEN

08-05-2008, 01:57 PM
Houston hands down they r gunna win it all against the celtics in 6

08-05-2008, 02:28 PM
im guessing Houston or NO
surprise team : Blazers might give them a run

08-05-2008, 02:36 PM
I vote for the Clips. But in reality, New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, and maybe Utah

08-05-2008, 02:37 PM
im guessing Houston or NO
surprise team : Blazers might give them a run

Yea, you never know. They did play well last season without their boy Oden

08-05-2008, 02:39 PM
I'll say New Orleans. They have a great nucleus of guys, led by Chris Paul. I still think Los Angeles is the best team though. However, you cannot count out the Spurs.

08-05-2008, 02:51 PM
New Orleans, I don't think Houston will make it any farther than the First round, if they make that. New Orleans got better adding a champ in Posey, and West, Paul, and CHandler will improve, even if Peja continues his decline.

08-05-2008, 02:53 PM
Sacramento Kings

Hahahah wow the Kings won't even challange for a playoff spot, let alone the WCT..... :pity:

08-05-2008, 02:55 PM
im guessing Houston or NO
surprise team : Blazers might give them a run

Blazers are still a little too young for my liking. I do agree, they may surprise some people and sneak in though.

Cant wait for the Spurs to win the ring this year...it is an odd numbered year afterall :smoking:

08-05-2008, 03:05 PM
NO, Spurs, Rockets and Jazz

08-05-2008, 03:23 PM
houston and san antonio

08-05-2008, 04:02 PM
Cant wait for the Spurs to win the ring this year...it is an odd numbered year afterall :smoking:

But they haven't picked up anyone else.

08-05-2008, 05:28 PM
Rockets if they stay healthy will be the champs.

Dirty Dirk41
08-05-2008, 05:35 PM
dont like any west team really except Dallas. I went with Dallas cuz you can only choose 1. Mavs, Spurs, Rockets will all be contending for the top spot

08-05-2008, 06:08 PM
Thanks to Houston picking up Ron Artest, it has to be Houston. Especially if Yao and T-Mac can stay healthy.

08-05-2008, 06:19 PM
You need to make it where there can be more than one selection because there are a handful of teams that can challenge them. Just like this past season

08-05-2008, 06:40 PM
Houston, NO, and maybe SA.

This should be a multiple choice poll, but it will either be Houston or NO.

08-05-2008, 08:37 PM
Houston has to get lucky sooner or later and just stay healthy. With artest battier (who i personally think will get traded) yao and tmac its gonna be tough.

This houston team reminds me of the Sac Kings when they were really good with C webb etc.

08-05-2008, 11:24 PM

08-05-2008, 11:27 PM
hornets and rockets

08-06-2008, 12:11 AM
hornets or rockets, but watch out for spurs people tend to forget them

08-06-2008, 12:31 AM
Rockets finally have a team that can score 110 and hold a team to 90

08-06-2008, 01:04 AM
But they haven't picked up anyone else.

That doesnt really mean much IMO. As long as our big 3 can stay healthy, we have just as good of a shot as the other teams.

08-06-2008, 03:39 AM
On paper Houston but New Orleans will give us more problems.

08-06-2008, 04:33 AM
New Orleans. They're so damn good. CP3 is crazy and they play extremely well as a team. Other then the Hornets, always gotta go with the Spurs... Then the Rockets/Suns.

08-06-2008, 04:55 AM
What team will be the best challenge for the LA Lakers for the Western Conference Crown next season in 2008-2009?

I think San Antonio is always a major threat, but aside from that team, I would have to say New Orleans and Houston if they can stay healthy. Utah is definitely a formidable foe.

08-07-2008, 10:51 AM
Houston if they they stay healthy

08-07-2008, 11:41 AM
I agree with lakerboy-Houston or New Orleans. CP can take his team as far as he wants, when his team is playing decently. And with the new dynamic trio in Houston, the west is going to be even better this year than last year!

08-07-2008, 11:49 AM
NO and Spurs.. and maybe HOU..

08-07-2008, 12:50 PM
I still think Portland will be better than Houston.

08-07-2008, 12:54 PM
New Orleans

08-07-2008, 12:56 PM
ZERO votes for the spurs.
i was going to vote for them but decided on NO.

NO, SA, and HOU are all pretty good.

08-07-2008, 12:56 PM
HOU, SA & NO with HOU being the biggest threat if they are healthy during the postseason.

08-07-2008, 01:11 PM
No love for the Spurs?

..and the Nuggets? :laugh2:

08-07-2008, 01:30 PM
I'd say Utah, they gave the most trouble for the Lakers in the playoffs.

08-07-2008, 01:40 PM
Will be another Spurs year, wait for see kid-o's.

08-07-2008, 02:18 PM
Houston is gona be solid.

08-07-2008, 04:21 PM
Spurs/N.O./Jazz all pose legitimate challenges to the Lakers. Rockets have yet to prove anything.

lebron:i suck
08-07-2008, 04:32 PM
dont be surprized if portland ends up in the top 4.

08-07-2008, 04:35 PM
voted for my warriors to show them so love.. IF thats a bif if... rockets stay healthy i gotta say them but ... i dont think they will stay healthy so im going with the hornets

08-07-2008, 04:36 PM
No love for the Spurs?

..and the Nuggets? :laugh2:

nuggets barley made it in.. and they just gave away the D player of the year for cap space..... i dont think they are getting in this year....

08-07-2008, 04:42 PM
well suns hell no. neither mavs. im sad that the spurs arent going to really b a threat 4 the lakers. so its mostly hornets. then rockets.

08-07-2008, 04:46 PM
the hornets will come out of the west.

08-07-2008, 05:03 PM
i wouldn't be surprised if the rockets and hornets make it to the west finals because who do the lakers have to stop cp3. now posey will just do wat he did to kobe in the finals. tyson and bynum put up close numbers west would kill pau like he killed dirk odom vs pega can go either way cuz odom can drive on him and peja will kill him cuz no D. spurs can be the wildcard suns are old especially without d'antoni they won't run and blazers could be good. i see it houston new orleans and lakers top 3 its a toss up blazers jazz 5th because thats wat they always are spurs suns mavs.

08-07-2008, 05:03 PM
dont sleep on the spurs

08-07-2008, 05:34 PM
New Orleans or Houston.

08-07-2008, 06:02 PM
im picking Utah, i think they are better than New Orleans and i dont think houston will work out

09-06-2008, 04:21 PM

09-06-2008, 04:45 PM
Its going to be either Utah or NO
The Lakers, Jazz, and Hornets have a good shot at the Finals but I think the Lakers have the best chance since they are defending their "title".

09-06-2008, 05:19 PM
houston and NO

09-06-2008, 05:29 PM
so many homers for houston.............im going to say utah

09-06-2008, 05:47 PM
NO, Rockets, Spurs, Jazz...either one of these teams will be tough

Trail Gangsters

09-06-2008, 06:04 PM
so many homers for houston.............im going to say utah
damn you must really hate houston almost everytime i see you post on houston its negative but i still think you gotta put the spurs in the mix along with houston and utah NO was good last season but i just cant see them getting past WCF because that whole team is riding on CPaul

09-06-2008, 06:21 PM
New Orleans and Houston. San Antonio if they get back Manu quickly. Utah may be close. New Orleans was the best team for a while last year, then faded. With Posey on the bench, and Paul getting even better, I think they are the #1 seed in the west this season.

09-06-2008, 07:58 PM
Since Houston is yet to prove anything,Im gonna say New Orleans. However, if the Rockets prove that are ready to make some noise than they will be the team to give LA a run. NO and the rest of the West we pretty much owned last year(with the exception of Portland). And Im not being biased because Im a Laker fan.

09-06-2008, 08:19 PM
The Spurs, Jazz, Hornets, Rockets, and Mavs are all legit contenders in the West. Portland might be contenders this season, but I'll wait and see how they play with a healthy Oden. Even if he struggles guys like Jared Bayless and Rudy Fernandez should be nice additions to an already good back court. The Suns are still going to be good, but I do see them taking a step back this season. It will take time for them to adjust to the new coaching style, and I don't see Nash being the same player he's been for the last few seasons. Why? He doesn't have the same ability he used to when it comes to getting into the paint. Part of that reason is Shaq, the other part is that he's starting to get old. Also, I see his back problems taking a toll on him, and he'll start to wear down at the end of the season.

09-06-2008, 08:23 PM
Houstons gunna win the west.
NO in 2nd
LA 3rd
