wow he's 3-0 with a 2.00 era. he could be in the running for the Cy Young if he keeps it up. that would be a great story

Great accomplishment for him. His numbers would be sick if he did not have that bad April

we have Matz and Lester both in running for Cy right now.

Lester's ability to go deep into a game gives him a slight edge over Matz.. but it's definately nice having two guys putting up #1 numbers.

After a July in which he went 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA, Jon Lester was named American League Pitcher of the Month. He walked just six and struck out 28 while pitching at least seven innings in all four of his starts. "I don't need to be recognized," Lester said. "It's something that's nice. It's something to be celebrated or whatever. But I don't need that award to realize how far this year has come, how good I've progressed, how much more comfortable I've become on the mound." Lester added that his better command has been the result of a "natural progression" for him, gaining consistency and confidence. Lester is the first Sox pitcher since Pedro Martínez in July 2002 to win the award, and just the third overall (Bruce Hurst in September 1986 and August 1988)

I'm shocked to find out that Schilling in 2004 or Beckett in 2007 didn't win the award. Pretty impressive.

A big congrats has to go out to Lester. I know I did my share of bashing him in the early portions of the season, but he has really turned it on.
