And so it continues. After getting no love from his Orlando Magic during the playoffs or, evidently, contract negotiations, Carlos Arroyo has decided to sign on the line for Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Tel-Aviv. The deal stands to pay him $2.5 million next year, nearly all of which cash he’ll see since the club will likely pay his taxes.

Arroyo’s three-year deal includes the standard opt-out clause that will allow him to terminate the contract after either of his first two seasons in order to return to the NBA. Maccabi, who beat the Toronto Raptors in an exhibition game prior to the start of the ’05-’06 season, were rumoured to be pursuing Miami free agent Jason Williams. Instead, Arroyo will helm the point for them next year, strengthening what was already one of the most formidable squads in the Euroleague.

So, how many more will leave the NBA for "greener" pastures across the pond this summer? Will the league respond or is this the beginning of a major trend? Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

so,i am happy with that because we can sign and trade williams or with less money than the last year he could be ous back up pg and can u imagine chalmers after 2 years with white chocolate as his mentor???????i do believe that white chocolate could still be usefull for us!!!!!!!!!!what do u think>??????

I don't want Jason back. I want to see a completely healthy team. Jason can't and won't stay healthy. Plus I hate his low pct shooting. Quinn, Banks and maybe Mario are all better shooters than him

Yet. the dollar isent as much anymore and lets face it a vast majority of players will play wherever they get paid more in this case Europe

thats how i see the whole situation.

David stern can only blame himself for trying so hard to make the game global... right now the NBA is losing average players at best but with Wade saying if he gets offered 40mil per he will consider it and Lebron james reportedly a target in Europe in 2010... Stern better fix this problem because this can really hurt the NBA in the long run

Barbosa probably a 40% chance, Lopez 2% so the deal would be about 42% chance maybe less...Now what if they asked for Mario Chalmers in this deal instead of Cook which would probably work, would you do it?...

Yeah I had to really think about that one, Lopez is a big man which we sorely need and Barbosa (who is a vet) is a PG who can really jump start an uptempo offense...Either way needs would be filled...

I think this is about the only scenario where I would give away Chalmers if we had to...

:D I mean why not keep this roster to see how it works and which holes needs to be filled before making moves. Let's not make mistakes as we did in Walker-Davis trade
