They both make their team mates much better and if the play like last season they'll both have a good chance to win the MVP

Kobe...Lakers will win the west again and go all the way with Bynum playing like the next best center in the league. Kobe will get MVP and post up crazy numbers. 30+ PPG and 6+ Assists and 5+ Rebounds. Rookie of the year will be Greg Oden. Scoring champion will be Kobe. Finals 09 will be Lakers Vs. Celtics again. Lakers win this one 4-0...SWEEP, Bynum and Kobe are unstoppable and Kobe takes Finals MVP. Most improved team of the year 09 for the east will be Miami Heat (top 5 in Eastern Conference) and most improved from the West will be the Trailblazers (top 5 in Western Conference).

stevefrancis

didnt the lakers just lose in the finals 4-1 and were up 24 points in a game at home? weren't pau and lamar inconsistent and too soft. didn't the celtics lock down kobe. so andrew bynum is all of the sudden the best center in the league and is gonna put up dwight howard numbers? watch the lakers pull off a dallas mavericks and drop to the bottom of the western conference.

kobe

08-03-2008, 11:51 PM
well this is my top 10 with a scenario of how they can be:

1.- kobe: the reining mvp because last season lakers was the first place in the west with only 27 games with gasol and if you add bynum the team is better now imagine the lakers with gasol and bynum all 82 games lakers going to improve his record probably kobe drop in points but increase ast and fg%.

2.- lebron: best individual stats in the entire nba but he need at least win the division or 50+ win record at least.

3.- paul: repeat the last season (stats and record) and he can win this year.

4.- d howard: increase the stats again like he did year by year and top 2 in the east.

5.- amare: same stats only increase rebounds and win the west.

6.- brand: make a impact in philly 50+ wins record and fight the division to the celtics (too hard).

7.- nash: increase stats (imagine 18 pts 13 ast) and win the conference.

8.- arenas: 2006-2007 stats and improve fg% and top 2 in the east (very good team when the big 3 is healthy).

9.- wade: get back your team to the elite of the east and less TO. (very very hard)

10.- roy: everybody going to think this guy is crazy (i think he can be a good contender in 2 or 3 years) but is the blazers improve in this season and roy improve his stats and the blazers surprise everybody and win the west.
imagine roy averaging 23 pts 7 ast 5 reb 1.5 stl (i dont think this year but everything can happen this is the nba)
im a lakers fan but is i can watch other team games for next season i choose blazers very talented team bayless roy outlaw aldridge oden (i hope he be the beast that a lot of people say) webster the 2 spanish guys good luck blazers.

How Is Deron Williams not in this discussion? He is just as good as Chris Paul if not better. Especially at shooting. Paul has the advantage in speed. Their passing is the equal and Williams is stronger. average about same in assists and Deron leads his team and scores about the same shooting better percentage taking WAY LESS shot attempts.

My Pick - Deron Williams

it depends on performance of the team, ie overall record. for the reason the potential mvps are four (in order of probability):
- kobe
- paul
- howard

- houston has a chance to win a great deal of games if they stay healthy. however, both tmac and yao's consideration suffers from the existence of the other. how can you give mvp to a player that might not even be the best on his team?

- d willaims is awesome, but paul remains one step ahead.

- lebron will be lebron, but cleveland wont win enough games for him to be considered.

wade is also fantastic, but if miami is a 500 team at best (and i even think that's a huge stretch).

amare sucks

lebron will be great, but cleveland wont win enough games for them to be considered.

Deron Williams wtf isn't as good as Paul. WHERE IS HIS DEFENSE?? Really he puts up stats but not as good as Paul and don't even get into head to head sh** because they dont versus each other 82 games a season the versus each other at most 4 times and then playoffs. I would say Deron is the second best pg but just because his size doesnt make him a good defender... POINT GUARDS DONT POST UP so size doesnt count.

My Pick is Chris Paul and then Lebron with a sleeper pick of Dwade.

Um no they didn't. Kobe had just as good of an offensive year as either of the two, and a better year defensively. And wait... who took their team to the finals?

SHONIE
08-04-2008, 01:45 PM
Lebron or Paul. They are most valuable to their teams - without them, their teams are not in contention for the playoffs. Lebron moreso than anyone in the league is the most valuable player to his team. Kobe-less lakers would destroy Lebron-less cavs, so don't even start with the Kobe stuff. If the award is awarded how it should be, Lebron will win.

Zefflin
08-04-2008, 01:50 PM
1. KB - Will defend the MVP title with another stellar stat year as well as securing the #1 spot in the West again. Barring injury I'd say it's a lock to happen.
2. CP3 - Will have another ridiculous year but won't win it unless the Hornets take the #1 spot from LA...which they'll have a chance to do.
3. LBJ - Will have another obscene year stealing rebounds from his big men and forcing passes to try and get his trib doub. If he ever learns to try and stop doing everything himself he might actually pull of a 50+ win season...or at least win him #1 in his own division.

Kobe just got help this year because he actually tweaked his game to get more W's unlike a certain player. (i guess all that whining he did actually worked) By that logic Kobe should've won the MVP award from Nash those 2 years but he didn't because even though he put up 40ppg his team was pathetic. Lebron is where Kobe was 2 years ago. He'll learn.

Wade should not be in MVP discussions. Lets be real, Wade has no chance. Beasly needs 2-3yrs to be a dominant NBA player, so no way Miami has 50 wins, that eliminates Wade.

The NBA has been grooming Lebron and he will be MVP for the next 5years.
Kobe will not be MVP simply because his teammates won't be regarded as scrubs like this past season.......folks will say Kobe has Gasol, Bynum, Odom and a good shooter in Sasha and what does Lebron have? that eliminates Kobe. CP3 won't be MVP because that team won't be as good as lastyear, everyone will be ready for them this season and it will be a lot tougher for them.

My prediction:
Lebron
Yao
brandon Roy

Didn't Lebron cry and whine like Kobe did to get new teammates and it actually worked both ways. Cept Kobe actually took his team to the next level but Lebron seems to be going in the opposite direction. Maybe if he could actually produce a 50 win season he'd be in some serious MVP talk.

Wade is my Fav NBA player..............I just want Miami fans to be realistic.

Some of you heat fans are doing the same thing Laker fans do with Kobe........You think he is some sort of unstoppable messiah. Both of them are stars that can be shut down by a good defender.

How about we bet on this? If Wade wins MVP, I will be banned unconditionally from psd, and if he doesn't you will be banned, deal?

Shaq wont last 40 games...

Yeah and this is coming from a true Laker fan. Just watch he will. Just wait and see. Amare is gonna explode this year! Stats dont lie, So look at his stats from after the allstar break last year. That is proof right there. STAT averaged 30 pts and 9 rbs per game after phoenix got shaq. I say shaq plays at least 60. That is why we got RoLo so that Shaq can get his breaks and not get worn out! :D

1. Chris Paul
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Lebron James
4. Dwyane Wade
5. Dwight Howard
6. Yao Ming
7. Tracy McGrady
8. Deron Williams
9. Brandon Roy
10. Kevin Garnett

maybe Garnett is too low, maybe Dwyane is too high. but if Dwyane comes back in top condition, and if his team is playoff contender, he may get some consideration, like Lebron.
Yao and Tracy are low because they share teams, and Chris Paul is high because I believe the Hornets are only going to get better.
