whats the max ? 20 millions a year for 6 year?

then thats is teh deal.

The real question here is what are gonna do all those wh oare saving cap for him when he signs for another team.

Anyway i hope Cleveland understands that tehre is no point in waiting to 10 and lose him for nothing and trades him this year or at thei years end.

i think the real question is how quick will danny ferry leave cleveland after lebron signs a contract with another team, like nj or ny.

I think max is ~1/3 of the salary cap so assuming 62 mil cap

let's say starting @ 21 mil

so Cavs can offer 6 yrs(10% increases)

21,23.1,25.4,27.9,30.7,33.8

6 yr, 162 million

anybody else 5 yrs(8% increases)

21,22.7,24.5,26.5,28.6

5 yr , 123 million

of course, that's the extreme

well 1 of lbj's goals i just heard on the broadcast of usa vs russia is to be a billionare so its gonna take a max NBA contract or possible 40 mil a yr from a Euro team.

How the **** can a Euro Team Spend 40Million on one player? Where he gets to leave whenever he wants? I dont see the Point In that. One year 40Million?

They can offer that much because they have no cap space like the NBA. IMO the point it that however many years Lebron plays for a Euro team, they will win the championship or w/e they have.

The thing about 2010 is that there are a BUNCH of allstar caliber players becoming unrestricted free agents, so all the teams that don't end up with lebron still have a bunch of ballers to choose from....

Joe Johnson
Lebron James
Josh Howard
Dirk Nowitzki
Tracy McGrady
Yao Ming
Dwyane Wade
Richard Jefferson
Michael Red
Manu Ginobili
Chris Bosh
and a lot more..:speechless: Think of how much the NBA will change in that offseason.

Clippers are getting Lebron in 2010 . As of right now our payroll is only going to be 25 million, leaving us with ABUNDANT cap space to sign lebron or some other excellent player(s).

Salary cap is the max amount a team's contracts can add up to without having to pay the luxury tax.

Well its pretty much impossible for him to play for the lakers until kobe leaves... so actually Clippers are the more likely team of the 2 to get him

Salary Cap does not really work.

If it did Lakers and Boston wouldnt add up to 85% of Nba Titles.

And if it did you would not have Kobe and Pau in the same team or Paul, Garnett, Pierce , Cassell etc .

Or Kidd + Nowitzky.

It avoids nothing, players end up going to the "Strong" teams, with an MLE or minimum salary after a buy out, with a trade for nothing after an "i want out" cryout or " trade me or ill play poorly strike".

Given that, it should be either revisited adding money but eliminating exceptions and being much more strict with the "trades" or eliminated.

Sorry I had to do that b/c the commercial just came on, but I doubt he goes to Russia. That would be a bad career move. I think he will get a max contract as well.

HOw would LeBron turn into a billionaire athlete though is my question.. especially if he's "only" gonna make 150-160 mil over 6 years??

JIDsanity
08-03-2008, 11:53 PM
I believe the max that any team other than Cleavland can offer is 17 mill.

Well I don't know about a billionaire...but endorcements and commericals and all that fun stuff racks up another couple hundred mil. What do you even do with all that money?

Crunchy12489

That's the trouble with the younger athletes as opposed to the older ones.

Money > The Game.

He's worried about making a billion dollars, while he should be worrying about that inconsistent jump shot he has. He should be worrying about how he produced (or didn't) in the playoffs... He should be worrying about taking this team a step further, rather than thinking about his rep with Jay-Z.

He's one of my favorite players, but he needs to grow up.

but they got the majority of those titles before the cap

the cap works in terms of achieving parity, a bad organization is a bad organization.

since Bulls 1st 3peat, at least 1 'ship... Chicago,Houston, LA, SA, Detroit, Miami, Boston

Hellcrooner
08-04-2008, 11:23 AM
Sicen first trheepeat

there was a second threepeat by Chi and a third Threepeat by Lakers

then you have S.A wining 4 rings.

Basically 17 titles since 91

BUlls 6, Lakers 3, S.4 , Houston 2 thats 13 then they come the free Riders, Det,MIa,Bos

Doe snot sound very balanced to me....

theres a salary cap and max contracts in the NBA, so whatever the max is he will get it. If there wasn't, like in MLB he would make A-Rod type money maybe more. Because in the NBA one player can make a bigger impact than one in the MLB

I don't really get what the salary cap does?

it is supposed 2 level the field so smaller market teams that do not have huge fan bases and large amounts of revenue can compete with the ones that do thats why when a team like the knicks go way over the cap they get charged a penalty tax supposedly to keep them from putting together a yankees (sign the biggest stars and throw mountains of cash at them)type team without it you would have an MLB situation where u only have a couple of teams (yankees redsox)that can compete for a championship

he'll get something like 25 million per year average. so like, 6 years, $150 million.

LA_Raiders
08-05-2008, 12:18 AM
If a team gives him $25M/yr, its going to be hard to get a good core team around him...
