he was pretty good last year. i think this is similar to the Colon signing. it's a high reward low risk deal.

You've got to look beyond the one misleading stat. 1.4 WHIP, 5.07 ERA, OPA of .289.

Those = Not Closer numbers.

Timlin's line since returning from the DL:

8G, 8.2IP, 6H, 1ER, 1BB, 5K, 1.04era, 0.808whip

The phoenix is rising once again.

I dont think this signing is BAD...If he does good in the minors give em a shot. He Clearly wont be closing games. Our bullpens been shaky, im willing to give anyone a shot if they look good. Hopefully he doesnt flop in pawtucket.

Are the red sox truely interested in Joe Borowski. i hope not.thoughts?

oh btw its in the rumors thing i'm just wondering what you guys all think about this possible waiver deal.

If they are, their interest lays in signing him to a minor league deal with the possibility of a call up. It would be a cheap signing, cost you no prospects, and add to the organizational pitching depth. There's also nothing forcing the Sox to add him to the Major League roster.

Worst case scenario: You lose a relatively small amount of money at no consequence to the Major League team or it's ability to get to and win in the postseason

Best case scenario: He finds some groove, and we gain a decent middle relief or even setup arm for the stretch run.

It's a sound economic and baseball move.

This was discussed here like 4 days ago.. in a thread called Red Sox offer Borowski Minor League Deal (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255037)

It was small money. Its a minor league deal so if he doesnt impress in Pawtucket he wont even see time on the main roster. I like the move. I hope he does well cuz he used to be a pretty good pitcher.

He was productive getting out of jams but it seems unlikely that he would be that amazing in our already unreliable pen state.

Joe's relatively old and it's probably time he just called it quits. He hasn't been effective since he was a Marlin.

GAS CAN.. nic would surely be assigned to him. I can see live arms this guy did it with mirrors. As Jerry Remy said he couldn't figure out how he got anyone out.

I can see him getting raked in triple A. He would ruin their chances down there too.

If he had a pop up timer , it's been up for a while.

Haha...no I got the did it with mirrors part...I just didn't understand the sentance...which I am sure was my fault...but the "I can see live arms" part didn't seem to match the "this guy did it with mirrors" part. Ah well.
