Contract negotiations with Dikembe Mutombo will likely be on hold until Mutombo and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey return from the Olympics, but Mutombo's agent, David Falk, said Thursday that he doubted that Mutombo would play another season if the Rockets offer only the veteran's minimum. "It would surprise me if they thought he would come back for the veteran's minimum," Falk said. "I've know (Rockets owner) Leslie Alexander for a long time. Dikembe has a very good relationship with Les. We'll get together when we get back and see if there can be a situation for Dikembe to consider playing another season." Rockets general manager Daryl Morey did not say what sort of offer he planned to make.

10 million?

10 MILLION?

Talk about a shot in the foot.

One of my favorite centers of all time, but he's not in his prime anymore.

No way I would sign him for 10 mil.

I'm thinking 2 or 3 million.

Give him 2 million and Landry the rest of the MLE with 3.8 million.

I would love to see Dikembe in a Laker uniform. I know you guys hate us, but Dikembe would bring the veteran bench presence we lacked in the Finals. Not to mention the veteran leadership.

I think he deserves it. Who played for Yao when he went out? Deke. Yes he is old but he deserves a raise for what he did last year, and plus he is a good guy and will probably donate it to charity and as someone said how he was building a hospital.

I would give him the bi annual exception but the Rockets already gave that to Brent Barry, I could still see the Rockest resign Mutombo but I don't know how much they would give him.

he's worth it. he brings experience and and excellent defense. look at what he did for the rockets when yao went down - he helped them become one of the best defensive teams in the league.

RocketsRule

He does deserve more money. I'm not saying 7 or 8 million or anything, but more along the lines of 2 or 3 million. He is a class act, brings defense, rebounding, and a leadership presence.

Also, knowing Yao's history of injuries, he might have to come in and start like he did last year. Knowing that, he deserves more than the minimum for sure. Not a whole lot more, but slightly more. I say 3 million would be right.
