According to reports yesterday HEAT free agent Jason Williams has had some discussions with Euroleague power house Maccabi Tel Aviv. This morning the Miami Herald is confirming that interest saying that Williams' camp is looking for a deal in the $3 million range, while Maccabi is said to be looking at a deal in the $1.5 million range. Williams has had some introductory talks with the Sacramento Kings about returning to Sac-Town, while the Miami HEAT has also expressed interest in possibly bringing Jason back. Jason's camp has also made it clear that the Orlando Magic would be a desirable spot for the Orlando resident, but talks have not gone anywhere. A league source yesterday said the market for Jason is likely the NBA minimum which lines up with why Maccabi's offer is somewhat lower. HOOPSWORLD talked with Maccabi scouts in Las Vegas in mid-July as they scouted Brandon Jennings, at that time they made it clear they were looking for a NBA level point and center. Maccabi had interest in signing former Raptor Primoz Brezec, who instead inked a deal with Italian league powerhouse Virtus Roma. Maccabi signed D'or Fischer, the former West Virginia standout two weeks ago, filling its center spot; point guard remains the only roster spot the team has open, Williams lines up with the kind of talent Maccabi is looking for.
