Hakeem Olajuwon is for sure the best international player overall, retired or currently active.
Currently active only, I would say my top 3 are:
1. Tim Duncan (U.S. Virgin Islands)
2. Yao Ming (China)
3. Dirk Nowitzki (Germany)

Retired only, I would say:
1.Hakeem Olajuwom (Nigeria)
2. Patrick Ewing (Jamaica)
3. Vlade Divac (Serbia)

Hakeem's career stats are slightly better (not by much), on rebounding, blocked shots and steals than Ewing's career stats.

Olajuwon's stats:

Ewing's stats

Also, Hakeem has 2 championships, Ewing has 0. Although both are Hall-of-Fame Greats, I think Hakeem is slightly better.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sabonis. Granted, he didn't have that great a career, but the NBA received an old, and injured Sabonis. When he was in his prime overseas, he was a beast. There was nothing the guy couldn't do.

Agreed. The man could shoot 3s and was an awesome passer. Gotta love the 2000 Blazers.

People like Ewing , Duncan, Wilkins or Akeem later Hakeem should not be eligible as "International" Players since sooner or Later they did represent Usa in Usa Team.

There is much difference on todays internationals and back on the 80s first 90s internationals, those were role players at best with the honorable exception of Petrovic, who in my opinion is the best International player ever in the Nba.

So here is a line up of eldery internationals, Petrovic,Marciulonis,Schrempf,Volkov,Sabonis

Interesting point, I would still call them international player however.
