Peja and Vujacic shouldn't even be on this list. Anyway, Dirk IS the best player out of that group of players, no question. He is a former MVP for a reason.

Dirk averages more points, rebounds, and wins in the playoffs than Sasha. Tony Parker is without doubt the best Euro in the NBA come playoff time though.

Manu is Argentinian

Its difficult to compare players that Play different positions, even Dirk and Pau wich are supposed to be both Pf are difficut to compare because both are Combo Pfowards being Dirk a SF/PF and Pau a PF/C

I also think Tony Parker should not qualify as european, He is basically American and happened to be born by Accident in Belgium, yes Belgium not France, but since his father was a soldier i guess he has Usa Nationality too.

My starting 5 of Euros in the League would Be.

Calderon,Rudy Fernandez, Dirk, Pau and Okur

Dirk had had outstanding post seasons. the year they got killed in the finals by Miami he averaged 22 and 10 wit just about 3 assists per game. Wade played at a level im no sure hell ever play at again. Plus the rest of Dirks team didnt show up. To say Dirk choked is foolish.

1: Tony Parker (Finals MVP, 3x Champion, team relies on him more than the two below me)

2: Dirk Nowitzki (a beast, his team relies on him alot, but Parker gets the offense going)

3: Pau Gasol (great guy to have in the post.. soft at times, but when you get him mad he'll release his aggression)

And as much as they (or their countrymen) may wish it, Okur and Hedo are not European. Neither culturally, nor politically, nor geographically.

EDIT: it was Vlade Divac who had a guest appearance at Eurovision Song Contest 2008.

According to wiki, Kukoc retired in 2006.

My Vote for best European player would be Dirk.

Parker,Calderon,Navarro

Petrovic,Zscerbiack(Born in Mdrid),Diaw

Peja,Haedo,Paulovic

Dirk,Kukoc,Kirilenko

Pau,Sabonis,Divac.

As for Turkey Players, well turkey plays in all sports competitions with Europe.

There are talks to accept the country in the European union

and last but not least, there is a little part of the country in Istanbul that is in the European side of the Bosfurus.

Turkey is much MORE european thatn Israel, who is generally considered european in sports. too

Dratzen Petrovic.

Arvydas Sabonis was a really great Center, even before he went to the NBA. In fact, he was way better before he was in the NBA, before he got injured and such. His Lithuanian team were one of the best teams in the Olympics.

The best european player EVER didnt play a single minute of Nba.

Juan Antonio San Epifanio, he has a fiba award for best Fiba player of the 80s to back my words.

But back in teh day euros never had a good chance in the nba, remeber Petrovic who was a beast being the waterboy in Portlnd?.

another euro who probably was the best player on europe on the 90s never dared to make the jump across the ocean, Dejan Bodiroga.

nalej85
08-02-2008, 03:21 AM
I'd say Dirk by far. followed by Tony Parker, Manu and then Gasol. BWT, Manu was born in Argentina but is actually Italian. He might be part argentinian as well, not sure. I think thats enough to qualify him as European. Drazen Petrovic was not too bad of a baller either. Hedo Turkoglu is under-rated also, he's been a great 6 man most of his career and makes a great starter. He does everything;like the the players mentioned before him. Its funny because IN THE PAST, that was rare for european players.

Yes he would have ended up being a perpetual allstar, it was sad hat happened.

But my point is that being THAT great he barely saw action in portlnad for 2 years.

Blazers also had an spanish player ( who happens to have shared real madrids shirt with Petrovic, and who shares with him to be death because a car accident in their prime:() Named Fernando MArtin, who was REALLY good, and i remeber he palyerd a total of 38 minutes in whole season.
