Jones is batting ,167, .268 OBP, .518 OPS, 36 OPS+ = :puke:

Pierre is a worse version of Coco Crisp:

.279 BA, .325 OBP, .641 OPS, 68 OPS+

I'd rather keep Coco at the 4th OF.

Try to convince me he's not fast.

jones maybe with the slight hope he becomes what he was again in atlanta

Well of course he is fast. Speed isn't really an issue. Coco is always there for defensive replacement and pinch running purposes. We aren't going to have Pierre sit on the bench, to just run. Makes no sense.

pierre is very fast one of the nl leaders in SB with 36.. no power at all but could be a dave roberts type guy in the playoffs who serves as a pinch runner or comes in to bunt in cluch needed situations

As a 5th OF i don't think I'd have a problem with it. He'd pretty much be filling in for Moss.

Exactly. I'd put him as the 5th OF. He barely gets any PT, but say Crisp, Ellsbury, Lugo all started. Were in the 9th inning of a tie game and David ortiz hits a single. Throw Pierre out there, have him take 2nd and we have an instant scoring chance.

dude pierre is beastly on the baseline he never takes only one base :p... haha.. he could also be very good like late in a game oone out runner on second put him in he takes third... now bunt down the first base line u got a guaranteed run on a suicide with pierre

Dodger fans call him scrappy mcpopup for a reason.

No, I do not want either of these players. They're both awful.

I would take Jones. Lotta money for the rest of this yr, but when healthy, he is a beat and on a level of his own defensively. He isn't old, and can really swing the bat. This past yr was a fluke type deal and last year I think he was trying too hard to perform for a new contract. Next season he could come cheaply, and quite frankly I wouldn't mind using some of Curts money on him. But only maybe 4-5 mil not the 25 hes making this yr.

Absolutely not for either. I don't care how fast he is. If he can't get on base it doesn't really matter.

i'd agree with the no-go on both players..... unless they came as a package for less than $1mill..... and they'd have to bake the ball club and all the fans fresh cookies every gameday :laugh2:

This is a joke, Juan Pierre could possibly be the worst regular paid player in all of baseball, and im not even exagerating. There is basically nothing he can do good besides not striking out and running from point A to point B in a quick time. With that said he is pretty bad baserunner, don't look at the steals look at the SB% and he is pretty bad. Dave Roberts on the other hand was a master at running bases and rarely ever got caught or picked off.

as i said i wouldnt mind jones lol... u guys cannot just look at this year but u gotta look at the past few.. in which the guy bats at about .270 hits 35 HRs and gets 100+ RBIs

The decline started last year, and has gone into this year. He has flat out AWFUL now.

And then you add in his weight issues. No thanks.

i agree if we can fix his swing he could be really productive. we could send down ellsbury and maybe next year we trade jones, (if his value is high), or DFA if he's a bust

We dont have the money to feed Colon, Ortiz, and Jones

Forget money, I don't think that Boston has enough food to feed Colon, Papi, and Andruw Jones.

Please, take both of them!
We'd take a bag of dog food and a puppy...I don't care what we get...just take them! Especially Jones. We have no idea who this guy is anymore. He's certainly not the Jones from ATL. :)

Seriously, I gurantee you guys have never in your lifetimes watched any major leaguer day in and day out, play as poorly as Jones this year. It's absolutely amazing how bad he is...he's like a booger that won't let go!
