I'm wondering what you guys think Tito is going to do with the line-up now? I would personally like to see Drew back hitting 3rd but I know how Tito hates two lefties in a row. So maybe something like this:

1. Pedroia
2. Youk
3. Ortiz
4. Lowell
5. Drew
6. Bay
7. Lowrie
8. Varitek
9. Ellsbury
Or maybe if Ellsbury gets it going again
1. Ellsbury
2. Pedroia
3. Ortiz
4. Youk
5. Lowell/Drew
6. Drew/Lowell
7. Bay
8. Lowrie
9. Varitek

Well it depends, if Ellsbury plays like he did at all last year this is how I would arrange it.

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Youkilis
Ortiz
Bay
Drew
Lowell
Lowrie
Varitek

This could also work, but I like the first order a lot better.

Perdroia
Youkilis
Drew
Ortiz
Bay
Lowell
Lowrie
Varitek
Ellsbury

For whatever reason Ortiz is a lot more comfortable at #3. That's why the Sox put him there even though the numbers were slightly better with Manny at #3 and Ortiz cleanup. My guess is something like this:

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Ortiz
Bay
Drew/Lowell
Lowell/Drew
Youk
Varitek
Lowrie/Cora/Lugo

That will very likely be the lineup the Red Sox go with, though for the time being they may stick with Youk/Pedroia at the top of the order.

bay should bat 4th and if ellsbury isnt leading off he should be 9th and serve as like a 2nd leadoff type guy...

I like any of those lineups. Sounds like we should be ok

i prefer elssbury leading off and actually having pedroia bat in #2 and if we put ortiz in cleanup again.. WATCH OUT!! cuz then they wont walk him with four deadly hitters behind him and bay wont be walked and i feel would put more production in the three spot with ortiz below him because the #3 takes more pressure off a person especially if u have david ortiz jd drew mike lowell and kevin youkilis behind you to back u up

ortiz will bat 3rd it gets him the most at bats and ensures he will get an at bat in the 1st inning

I agree i would rather have Jacoby leading off too, but hes been absolutely pitiful lately.

u cant make a bad line up with our crew.

they just have to hit and im tellen u things are going to turn around fast and the Red Sox will be back on top poppen champaign after the World Series.

im excited to see Bay play for us. i feel like we r getting a star stepping into his prime.

remember he comparable numbers to Manny with these conditions:
1. no one else in the line up for protection
2. very few runners on base for wen he got up to bat
3. playing in a park tougher on hitters than Fenway

we'll see wat this kid is made of very quickly. hes got a lot of pressure on him and we can only hope he thrives from it.

LETS GO RED SOX!!!!

I think Drew should be hitting number 3 where he did really well when Ortiz was up. Ellsbury at the bottom to he gots out of his slump.

1. Pedroia
2. Youk
3. Drew
4. Ortiz
5. Lowell
6. Bay
7. Varitek
8. Lugo/lowrie
9. Ellsury

2 lefties in a row? I wouldn't want that. Ortiz will bat 3rd.

1. Pedroia
2. Youk
3. Ortiz
4. Lowell
5. Drew
6. Bay
7. Lowrie
8. Tek
9. Ellsbury

Thats what I think tomorrows lineup will be. I wouldn't automatically put Bay in the 4 or even 5 spot at first anyway, that way we don't put too much pressure on him.

No chance of this one happening.

Tito is a big believer in LRLR battings orders. Drew and Ortiz will not hit
back to back.

By the end of the season, no. But at first I think he would bat 5 or 6.

You think he's going to bat 4th from day 1? He might but I would think that would be a little too much pressure, especially considering he's coming from the NL.

u cant make a bad line up with our crew.
Oh, I'm sure I can.

1. Julio Lugo - SS
2. JD Drew - RF
3. Coco Crisp - CF
4. Alex Cora - 2B
5. Jason Varitek - C
6. Mike Lowell - 3B
7. Jason Bay - LF
8. Kevin Youkilis - 1B
9. David Ortiz - DH

Bench:
Kevin Cash (C), Sean Casey (1B), Dustin Pedroia (2B), Jacoby Ellsbury (CF).

I think I just threw up a little.

I would start with this but flip Bay and Youkilis if Bay gets off to a good start and seems to handle the pressure well. I have always wanted Drew to hit #2, but we'll see.

I say

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Drew
Ortiz
Bay
Youk
Lowell
Lowrie/Lugo
Tek

even though ellsbury is in a slump i believe he will fight threw it and have a good season. with his speed at the top and pedroia being hot. drew batting his best 3rd Oritz moving a slot down into clean up then having Bay bat 5th to keep a good bat behind ortiz and then Youk 6th exc. I feel like thats the perfect lieup right now with tek hitting so bad. maybe when lugos back move him 9th or if tek gets hot move him up. If drew can keep producing i dont see us really loosing that much offence. our 8/9 are questionable but lowrie can scrap and tek can get hot then with our starting rotation with Beckett, Dice- K, Lester as a 1-2-3. Thats probably the best in the AL if lester continues like he has been pitching the rest of the season. All in all this trade doesnt come out looking bad. Worst part is we loose hansen(proven nothing) and moss(at best 4th outfielder) in our system at least. Bay still has all next year in boston which may lead me to beleive we will fall in love with him and resign him. if bay was a 60 day player like manny that would of been the worst seniro. but thats pretty much what LA got. a 60 day player that probably wont resign. Theo is a genius

CF Ellsbury
2B Pedroia
1B Youkilis
DH Ortiz
LF Bay
RF Drew
3B Lowell
C Varitek
SS Lugo (Healthy)

I think would give Tito the most balanced line-up. Also, allows tough match-ups w/#3-8 alternating AB's from different sides of the dish.

BoSox2212

1. Pedroia - R
2. Drew - L
3. Bay - R
4. Ortiz - L
5. Lowell - R
6. Youk - R
7. Lowrie - S
8. Varitek - S
9. Ellsbury - L

I think this is the best lineup out there. I think the OBP of Pedrioa and Drew will set up Bay, Ortiz and Lowell for the most RBI opportunities. Also, Francona likes to go with right and left alternating hitters.

Ortiz should be moved to cleanup. he has to, hes our biggest power threat. Bay will either bat 3rd or 5th

exactly, with Lowell, Youk, and/or Drew behind him, he will have plenty of protection at cleanup. I still say put Drew 2nd, Bay 3rd, Ortiz 4th.. L, R, L combination while giving plenty of protection for Bay to perform.
