Yanks, Red Sox eyeing Eyre

That never-ending Yankees-Red Sox intrigue has found its way to Scott Eyre. Both clubs are in on the Cubs left-hander, who is expected to be moved for a very modest return. But both teams also have him as a back-burner option as they search for more impactful bullpen help.

I'll take Melky Cabrera.

And that probably won't happen.

Eyre for Cora is going to happen- Cedeno will be moved in a package for a LH CF, - don't count out Nate McLouth for Cedeno, Pie and a solid pitching prospect as a option

I just don't get all the eagerness to get rid of him and/or not using him. He's had some pretty good stretches. He's not perfect, but he can be useful.

I like the way you think. McLouth would be amazing.

Let's rape the Pirates again.

Only Hendry would deal a solid LOOGY for a "modest" prospect in return. :pity:

That's unfair criticism for Hendry, who has done a pretty good job of trading veteran extras (Walker, Sosa, Bynum) for decent specs in the past.

I'd accept that if he can get DeJesus and Mahay, who is a better loogy than Eyre.

Again can't believe I am saying it, but it feels wrong moving Theriot out of #2.

Maybe the world decides to be nice to us and we get McClouth and Lou is smart enough to bat Theriot 9th.

Theriot

That's a good lineup. Theriot could still hit 2 against LHP prob.

McLouth is having a career year- never having approached anything close to this kind of success at any stage- with the Pirates obviously sellers and with Andrew McCutchen ready to man CF- selling high on McLouth makes a great deal of sense. A McCutchen/Pie/Tabata OF in a couple of years would be unreal...

Certainly no deal after his showing today.

Certainly no deal after his showing today.

No team is stupid enough to base their decision off of one appearance, particularly when that was his first appearance in 9 days.

This will probably happen at some point, he's the type of guy that can easily be moved during August. Eyre to one of them for a mid level prospect. It works for both sides, each of them needs relief help, we have a logjam and could use some help on the farm. I believe the only stipulation is that the prospect can't already be on the 40 man, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a strange feeling that by this weekend Eyre will be DFA and traded for either a PTBNL or mid-level prospect. As much as I think Howry deserves it more than him......... We don't need 3 lefties in the pen (and for some reason Lou like Cotts but has faith in Eyre).

Not that Marquis has been all bad.....but $9 million next year? Sweet God....

We can't dump him no matter what.....at least he'll prolly miss the playoff roster..
