The Lakers confirmed Wednesday that former NBA player Robert “Tractor” Traylor has been invited to their El Segundo practice facility for a private workout to be conducted Thursday.

The 31-year old Traylor has not played in the NBA since the 2004-2005 season, when he averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 74 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Traylor will be put through an assortment of drills by the Lakers’ coaching staff that likely will include Bill Bertka, who has been at the practice facility this week.

If the workout goes well, Traylor likely would be signed to a non-guaranteed contract and invited to training camp.

This move came out of nowhere.. Just crazy to me, never knew he was still on any teams radar, how could he really help the lakers, he must be over the hill by now.

Who knows, he could have been working out all the years he didn't play and is in great shape. I doubt he is, but anything's possible.

You would think he'd be in shape, considering he was in jail!

But he's pretty overweight. I saw him playing for the Cavs in summer league.

MMM hanst he heart issues?

Anyway he has not been sittign at home

He played last season for a team in the third division here in spain.

SO he may have recovered some phisical condition.

If he is somwhoe in shape he is not worst than COby Karl.

So why not?

I think the Lakers need to look elsewhere and find a better big man to come off of the bench

He's not that old, he's 31.

I remember hearing about him playing in Puerto Rico.

It's not about age, conditioning, he got love handles bigger than the ball.....His health was always an issue even when he played less minutes.....

He said he was over the hill. Usually when someone is "over the hill" it refers to their age.
