View Full Version : Ben Gordon Wants to Be the Highest-Paid Bull

07-30-2008, 07:59 PM
After signing one "potential, maybe, sorta-kinda franchise player," how close are the Bulls to locking up their other? According to Brian Hanley of the Chicago Sun-Times, not very.

The Bulls remain far apart in negotiations with guard Ben Gordon, also a restricted free agent. Gordon's agent, Raymond Brothers, has told the Bulls that Gordon should be the highest-paid player on the team because he has led the team in scoring each of the last three seasons. Gordon averaged 18.6 points last season, down from a career-high 21.4 in 2006-07.

Who currently holds the distinction of being the team's highest-paid player? That'd be Larry Hughes, believe it or not, who will haul in $12.8 million this year and $13.6 million in 2009-10. Luol Deng, whose new contract averaged $11.8 million in base pay, is next, followed by Kirk Hinrich, who's due $10 million this year.

damn I think Noah has been passing around his majic powder in the lockerroom

Nobody is gonna sign Gordon if he thinks he is worth that much. Maybe he should just go to Europe...

07-30-2008, 08:24 PM
The Bulls should forget about him and wait until 2010.

have fun in europe Ben :D

Master Mind

Well that certainly doesn't bode well for Ben Gordon....S&T or Europe for you my friend....Say no to Noah!

Ben has 3 options:
1- come back down to earth and sign for what he's worth(which definitely isn't 10mil a yr)
2-take his crack smoking *** to Europe
3-accept a sign and trade

07-30-2008, 08:43 PM
Him and Larry Hughes should just get traded

07-30-2008, 08:48 PM
Well the Bulls certainly can't afford to have Hughes, Deng, Hinrich, and what Gordon wants if they want to avoid the luxury tax. Add in Nocioni and Gooden they're just about there...They should trade Hinrich if they can get any cap relief at all so that they can resign Gordon.

Yeah somebody who scores 20 one night and 9 the next is the main reason. The main reason we made the playoffs those 3 years was because of our DEFENSE. something Gordon would be bad at even if he played in the WNBA.

As a Bulls fan I want him to be highest on the release list

07-30-2008, 09:23 PM
Is his agent on crack?

Dude's not even a consistent starter.

Pay him a dime over 10mil and your overpaying by about 2 million dollars and ten cents.

07-30-2008, 09:28 PM
The guy is barely a starter and expects to get that type of contract? the smartest thing for the Bulls to do is say either "you sign for less or you leave" it's as simple as that.

07-30-2008, 09:33 PM
Bulls depend heavily on his scoring...him and Deng r the only reason that the Bulls started making the playoffs past few years. He deserves around 9 mil, he may not be a starter, but he plays starter minutes kinda like Manu just not as good, but he is the 2nd best sixth man in the league.

07-30-2008, 09:39 PM
Ok you say 9 mil. Just one thing wrong, HE WANTS 12MIL!!!!!

07-30-2008, 09:44 PM
He should be...He's the MAIN reason the baby Bulls made the playoffs those years...They let him go.....THAT'S IT

   are you kidding me?

07-30-2008, 10:19 PM
He got greedy, should have taken the $50m for 5 years they offered him before last year.

07-30-2008, 10:22 PM
Interesting. Dont see that happening though, sorry Mr. Gordon.

07-30-2008, 10:43 PM
damn I think Noah has been passing around his majic powder in the lockerroom

hahahah nive bro

The best thing for the Bulls would be for him to take the QO for 1 year and then trade him before the trading deadline and get something of value for him from a team like Detroit or LA or Dallas or Phoenix or San Antonio that wants that one extra piece to contend.

That way they never have to pay him that contract, but they get something back for him.

Bye Bye Benny!
