It's obvious that the Rockets made out with a good catch in this trade. But the Kings put themselves in a good position as well.

5 reasons why:

I like it for the Kings as well

Rockets didn't have anything to lose because it is Artest's last year on his current contract. If he behaves and the Rockets do well they could extend him another 2-3 years and keep the core of Yao, T-mac and Artest together until 2012 or so.

Yeah, the Rockets are in a really good position. Especially because Artest is an Adelman fan. That will go a long way.

Yeah, the Kings' GM (Geoff Petrie) always flies under the radar. There weren't many pre-trade reports mentioning the Rockets and Kings at all.

Is it a good shock? Or are you horrified?

I really wanted Donte Greene to become a good player in houston

It's cool. You can still root for Donte Greene. In Sac Town, we all want him to be good, too.

Rockets clearly win talent wise, but in the long run I think both teams will come off equally in this trade. I followed Greene all last year at Syracuse and I think he's going to be a very good player down the road.

My excitement level for Greene is really high. I think the Kings are getting good value for "The Headache" without taking on any bad contracts.

Anytime you get rid of a public relations nightmare like Artest, you're getting the better end of the deal. Sacramento reporters are finally getting a break from the Artest beat. They're the real winners in this situation.

I disagree, considering they could have gotten a player like Odom or Marion and gotten rid of Kenny Thomas's contract at the same time. I think the Maloofs screwed this one up...

I'm shocked you got him without giving up Battier.

A major move by Houston, they have arugably the most talented roster in the league.

Alston
Tmac
Battier
Artest
Yao
Scola
Landry
Mutombo
Head
B. Barry

They have a good team and will be a force next season.

I think if either of those teams were willing to take on Thomas's contract, then one of those trades would have happened instead of this one.

Not sure how any Kings fan can be happy with the lack of value they got. They basically put the weight of their value on a 22 year old kid who may or may not be good. I mean I can't believe that was the best offer they got...

This trade may not put the Kings in playoff contention next season, but they have loads of young talent now. Greene gives them another talented player who fits their style of play. Just ask anyone who watched Syracuse last year. And he's 20, by the way, not 22.
