T-mac and Yao's minutes should be reduced to around 33-35 mpg for next year. This will cut down on some of their injuries and keep them fresh for the playoffs. Considering they have Artest now that would still give both Artest and Battier 30+ mpg along with Scola and those 3 could be the needed firepower and support that T-mac and Yao need.

With that in mind, how many mpg should both T-mac and Yao get each?

I agree 33-35 MPG is perfect. Maybe some nights, when playing really good teams, give them 35-38 MPG. I would rarely give them 40 MPG. This way they have a better chance of staying healthy and being fresh.

well to answer the question if the new big three give us 65 to 70 a night with our defense we could beat anybody

I think Yao's minutes should be reduced to 30 a game, same with McGrady. The additons of Barry, Dorsey and Artest should afford us the enough depth and scoring to allow them to rest.

30min per game would be good

Will Adelman follow this advice or no?

Especially considering Yao is playing in the Olympics now.

yeah 30-35 minutes would be nice to prevent injuries. tmac and yao need to be fresh for the playoffs.

absolutely make exact thought i put that as a response to a different thread a few days ago. there is no use playing two injury prone veterans and killing them before the playoffs. maybe even considering dropping yao and tmac minutes to 20-25 when we are 2 weeks away from the playoffs. battier, artest, alston and scola can be the workhorses of our team

30 MPG sounds good for both.

This is the really the first time that both tmac and yao can significantly cut down their minutes with the amount of talent they have now, I agree with trimming they're minutes down because it seemed to work with the Pistons starting 5, duncan in sa, kobe in la and the big 3 in boston. And assuming they will make it past the 1st round they will be playing heavy minutes come play-off time. I think even on nights where they're blowing out the competetion sit them out in the 4th

BUt without them you don't score any points. You have one of the top 3 defences in the league but you only score 85 points a game. You need them to be health and play the minutes or else you could stuggle.

i think artest should get atleast 30 minutes to make his presence

definetly both of these players are injury prone and shouldnt be playing 40plus minutes until the playoffs

I would agree with the 30-35 mpg. T-mac is not going to have to spend too much time running the offense and can go back to being himself. He can actually start the 2nd quarter on the bench for more then 1-2 mins before comming back in to get the lead up again. I believe Ric knows this and seeing what we did last year without yao, going small with yao on the bench is not that bad. This year everybody should be alot fresher. Can't wait.

Artest gives this team a lot of flexibility and is going to help get Yao and Tracy a lot more rest. Artest can always slide over to the 2 if T-Mac needs some bench time, or over to the 4 with Scola or Dorsey at C if Yao needs rest.

Artest can defend the SG, but he wont play it.
