Haha, I blame this laptop and wireless :p

Yeah, that will be interesting to see if he could get close to 4,000 hits. He sure won't ever pull a muscle with all of his stretching.

I wish that they'd carry over from the Japanese league to the MLB.

You can't, because to be able to switch leagues, he had to do 10 seasons of Japanese baseball.

The funny thing is that he has a better Hits/Innings ratio in the majors than he did in Japan.

Congrats Ichiro an amazing career so far.

it's definitely still a great feat even though all the hits weren't in MLB

Now the Mariners should trade him to the Cubs so we can have the best Japanese duo of all time.

The Cubs traded for Matsui?

Considering how he has a better batting average in the Majors than in Japan. If Ichiro could have been in the MLB for his entire career then he would have cleared the 3000 hit mark a long time ago... Think about what you're saying.

if he played in the MLB his whole career he might have been injured.
if he played in the MLB his whole career he might not still be playing at this high of a level.
if he played in the MLB his whole career he might have become a power hitter like most other MLB players.

if if if if if ..... Ichiro is a stud player, and one of my favorites in the league. but what happened, happened. He has 1722 hits.

I'm pretty sure he has a just as much of a chance of being injured in Japan. Majority of their fields are turf anyway, so that would just increase the chance he'd get hurt.

If he really played his entire career here sure I'd imagine he'd be even better. He'd know the pitchers more and be more comfortable here.

He has said several times that he could hit for power, but he would hit .250 instead of banging out singles and finishing with a .300 + average. Hitting for power isn't what Ichiro likes to do, and it isn't what the Mariners ask him to do.

Did he get a break? because he played 9 in Japan.
He also very may well end up with 3000 in the U.S

Some people say Ichiro only has 1726 hits. I honestly believe he's already reached 3000+ hits and it should count toward his hall of fame bid. If Japan's leagues are so inferior to MLB, then why did Japan win the World Baseball Classic and the U.S came in 3rd in their pool. The league isn't as bad as most people say it is.

do you think he may be slowing down a bit? this is the 1st year he hasn't made the All-Star team since coming over and he doesn't look like he's on pace to get 200 hits again.

actually he did make it as a starter, he will still get 200 hits he's been this way before where he was down a little bit during the stretch but still got it.
