Josh Childress is moving to Athens.

Not Athens, Georgia, home of the Bulldogs. Athens, Greece, home of the Parthenon.

The AJC reports that Childress, who was a restricted free agent, has signed with Olympiakos of Greece, ending his tenure with the Atlanta Hawks, and striking a blow to the team that made the playoffs this past season.

But, I believe the Hawks still control his rights indefinitely. So whenever he decides to come back (if he decides to come back), he'll still be an RFA. IMO, the better move would have been to take the 1yr qualifying offer (approx $5M) and hit the market as an UFA next offseason.

well, from a financial stand point this is much better for him. What if he gets hurt in that one year? better to take the money now!
