I have seen each play for as long as they were on the Kings, and I have to say that Christie would shut down people. IMO, Artest is not as good as a defender as Christie.

I think Christie is better

Do you mean when they played for the Kings or throughout their careers? Either way Id take Artest.

No, their career. I'm just saying I got to watch just about every game they played as a King.

Purely defense. Offense is not even considered

Well I watched Christie in his Raptor days, I have to say Artest is the better defender.

Christie was better for wing players, Artest can guard almost any position.

Ron Artest was a better defender in his Pacers days. So if you're a Kings fan, you would think that Christie was a better defender. but in Artest's defensive prime, I think he was a bit better than christie.

Depends on what else I have on my team and who that player is guarding.

Doug Christie in his prime for sure, he could really guard multiple positions effectively

They're two very different kinds of defenders. Christie was a versatile, quicker guard who would do well against guys like Kobe, Iverson, Finley, etc. Artest is a bigger more physical defender who can really change direction.

I've seen a lot of Artest and I saw a lot of DC, but I'd have to go with Ron. I watched Al Jefferson and Eddy Curry who are much bigger and heavier than he is try to back him down and he wouldn't budge. In fact I remember distinctly one occasion where Al Jeff was posting him up and he was moving more away from the rim than he was toward it. We're talking about a 6'7 small forward here.

I believe Doug Christie was the better defender.. mainly because he was faster than Artest is, which gives the defender a huge plus when guarding even the toughest and fastest offensive threats
