it was pretty clear which team was better. For a 6 game series, there was little mystery in the eventual outcome.

I'd rather see some other teams in their from both conferences.

wow are you serious? are you talking about the same Golden State team that didn't even make the Playoffs this past season?...I would love to see them in the Playoffs again, they have no Jason Richardson, Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, so if you think that team that they have now could best the Mavs in the Playoffs then you need to wake up real quick.

You missed my point.

I don't think it would be the same matchup if the Mavs played Golden State again, but saying you don't want to match up against a team that beat you is a stupid statement. Of course you'd want to beat the team that beat you. Just because you got embarrased (Lakers OR Mavs) in the finals doesn't mean you wouldn't want to match up against that team again.

after losing by 39 in game 6 and being completely smashed in front of millions, how can u ever say the lakers would have won?

? what.........

midwestmadman
07-25-2008, 04:35 PM
Andrew Bynum by the numbers:
Career PPG RPG APG BLK STL FG% FT%
2005-06 1.6 1.7 0.2 0.5 0.1 40.2 29.6
2006-07 7.8 4.2 1.1 1.6 0.1 55.8 66.8
2007-08 13.1 10.2 1.7 2.1 0.3 63.6 69.5

Now granted he has shown vast improvment, but these numbers aren't exactly setting the world on fire. Seriously Andreis Bedrins averaged about the same numbers and didn't have any guys like Kobe, or Odom getting the ball to him. The bigger question is had he not got hurt would he have even been able to sustain those numbers once the deal for Gasol happened? The answer is no! He would have been deferring to another scoring option and losing perhaps a few rebounds. I certianly don't think Andrew Bynum would have allowed the Lakers to beat the Celtics last year (particulary when they lost by what 30+ points) and by thinking that Bynum would have is just ignorance and why the rest of the NBA fans out there laugh at how clueless and lost from reality you Lakers fans are.

G-Funk
07-25-2008, 05:08 PM
Some of you idiots don't understand what some Laker fans are saying, Bynum won't be the savior of the team but he would make us a better different team, With Bynum back we get back a defensive presence, a shot blocker, and an atomatic 10 rebounds, his return will move Gasol to his natural postion and wont have to bang as much as a natural center would. It would move Lamar Odom to Sf where he wont be outsized by KG and will be 90% better than any sf we had all year.

One of boston's big 3 gets a season ending injury like Bynum did they don't get passed Atlanta... PERIOD.

On the other hand, Lakers with homecourt advantage and the type of run they had in the west in 2008 I could see Lakers vs Boston odds to be at least 1.5:1 in 2009.
By run I mean 1) only team to sweep, 2) beat the best regular homecourt team in their house, 3) nearly sweeping the defending champions.

If it wasn't for homecourt in the weak eastern conf, boston would not have won anything. Homecourt teams have historically had an advantage, but in 2008 it was clearly out of control: First round playoff record was 20-1.

Of course id like to see this matchup...Because if this is the finals next year Boston will have Banner 18.....who wouldnt like that. Lakers cant beat the celtics with this team....Stop with the bynum talk, Hes good....but c'mon.

is there ANY team that can beat the Celtics? Who do you propose can? Detroit? yea, right. Orlando? Doubt it. Phoenix with a new coach, an aging Nash, and Shaq at the end of his rope? Dreaming. Upstart Hornets? Possible, but they lack the playoff experience a champion usually has. Jazz? I think they've played the best they can and it hasn't been good enough. Spurs? They were old this year and they aren't getting any younger. Blazers? See Hornets above. Ultimately it's going to be Boston in the Finals.

Who from the West do you think has the BEST chance of beating them?

Call me a homer if you'd like, but I think the Lakers have the BEST chance of beating them. They got the seasoning of playing in the Finals and will be that much more hungry if they get there again. Did you see DFish's face when Ray Allen said "another win in LA" at the Espy's? They're hungry.

Bynum is NOT in any way shape or form the next Wilt or Shaq for that matter. But he's going to make an impact. Anyone discounting that is sorely mistaken.

your sig says "Where being soft happens". The Celtics exposed that. But Bynum is FAR from soft. He adds some toughness that was lacking in the finals. He's an able-bodied, fairly skilled big that can bang down low. I don't see how adding Oden coming off of microfracture is any more of a sure thing than adding Bynum after his injury.

Is Bynum the answer? Maybe not. But is he part of it? You can count on that.
