No way in hell the Wolves or the Nuggets finish ahead of the Kings in the West.

Rest of it is reasonable.

Cat, these people don't pay attention to the Kings, they think we are horrible when the truth is, we are actually good. they dont know what is like to have 3 starters out at the same time, have a mid season trade, and have a rookie coach all in the same year.

Grade for effort A+

Grade for predictions B- or a C cause I think you favour Rockets a tad to much :p

Reasons:

Pistons are aging, some expiring deals coming up, Dumars talking about blowing it up

I think the Sixers while should be a playoff team still have alot of young players to develop on that roster, So I think the proven big three of the wizards will be ahead of them as will the raptors with the JO-Bosh-Calderon big three.

I think Mcgrady's heart is no longer in Houston and im sure he doesnt like the trade talks, that said they still got talent and heart or no heart they will make the playoffs, just not that high. This is a make or break season for them, if they slip a tad which I expect I forsee a blowup of that roster next offseason.

Blazers a tone of young talent, just not ready to win 50 yet.

I think Dwight is first team over Yao Ming

Pistons are the same team they are when they ended the season, so they are definately the 2nd best team in the east, no doubt

Not the same, they are older, Dumars has called out the entire team and put Billups, Prince and Hamilton on the block, Billups has been rumored to Denver for some time now and they are also talking to the rockets about tmac and im pretty certain Rasheed is expiring and will likely not return. I just feel their run is about to end but will still make playoffs in lower seed.

With the same exact roster basicly as last year, name 1 team in the East that is undoubtedly better than the Pistons besides the Celtics

Look at my list for how I feel about that, age, heart, gm lack of faith in players, trade rumors, expiring contracts, long run is ending, you can take that to the bank

Cat, these people don't pay attention to the Kings, they think we are horrible when the truth is, we are actually good. they dont know what is like to have 3 starters out at the same time, have a mid season trade, and have a rookie coach all in the same year.

Even if you had your three starters, you still wouldnt be playoff bound

It will be Lebron and CP3 fighting for the MVP. I think Bron takes it. I mean he will carry the Cavs into the playoffs.

Huh?? They had one of the best records in all of basketball in the 2nd half last year. And young emerging studs in: Young, and Louis Williams

And since when is Elton Brand is just a "nice" player.. The guys a great player 20 and 10 with good defense to match...did you mean nice like niiiiiiiiiiiice?

Coming off a BAD injury, that has REALLY messed up many players career's before? I'm not ready to call Elton Brand the player he once was. This injury could bug him, and thats not good for the 76ers.

Sure, they had a nice little stint, but that doesn't mean that they're 100% going to carry it into a new season, with new players and stuff..

I love Travis Outlaw. But you think he will improve on the 13.3 ppg he averaged this year enough to warrant a MIP Award? I doubt it. Since his role may actually decrease a bit

Also Bayless wins ROY over Greg Oden?

Other than that solid picks. Except for the Hornets over Lakers thing..

The Hornets could be better.. but Phil didn't play Ronny Turiaf enough to consider him a big loss of the bench

just wanna point out a couple things...
1) You have the heat as the 8th seed but put the bucks in your playoff predictions...
2) Theres no way the west will have 8- 50 win teams again...the east has improved to much...
3) The celtics will not win 64 games next year in the NEW EAST.
4) Wade didnt make the all nba 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team... thats CRAZY

to all the kings fans out there... its hard from an outsiders standpoint to believe that they can pull out a winning season in the west.

Kevin Martin is a stellar player... but Artest might be gone... if you hold onto him, id say you still have a few holes in your roster....

PG: Beno udrih is o.k, but probably one of worst point guards in the west.
Sean Singletery could contribute but he'll never be an NBA starter. He is more of an earl boykins novelty type player. a little guy who can come off the bench and score. Trust me i played the guy in high school, he is nothig more than a backup.

SG: Kevin Martin, one of the most underrated players in the league. His shot is ugly, but it goes in all the time. His all around game is questionable though. 2 assists per game is awful for a shooting guard, i hateto say it.

SF: Ron Artest, really underrated too, but will he even be here at the beginning of the season? doubt it. Salmons is a good backup though.

PF: ? who is ur starting power forward. is shareef coming back? or is the rookie Thompson going to step in and dominate right away? This is a huge hole. Rookie power forwards do not dominate their first seasons in the NBA, outside of Tim Duncan, its hard to come by in this generation so dont give ur hoipes up on Thompson.

C: Brad Miller/ Hawes: Both solid Centers, but not physical enough to make up for ur lack of an NBA ready power forward.

you have nice guards off the bench, but ur frontcourt is reaaalllly weak. And in the West, you need a good frontcourt to survive.

I just dont see you guys winning more than 35 games, maybe u can prove me wrong cus im no expert, but i feel like u guys are overrating ur team a little bit.

Everyone has Philly so high. Its funny, they didn't have a good team at all really last year, and they add a nice player in Elton Brand and suddenly they're winning 20 more games then they did last year...Haha makes me chuckle.

YEEEEEE...SOMEONE AGREES WID ME

I also agree people are rating philly too high as the number 2 seed in the East.

We havent won anything yet as a team.

But i think the main reason is....

Philly started the year 17-33, and finished the year 23-9

During that amazing finish they beat.....

Boston Celtics(away), Spurs, Mavs, Phoenix (away), Detroit (home and away), Orlando, Denver, Toronto, we pounded on teams.

We even took detroit to a 6 games series and finished the season 4-5 against detroit last season (including regular season and playoffs)

Thats something to talk about.

We did this all without a real post presence. Put in elton brand, and u have a sick post presence to fill that major gap.

Andre Miller is one of the most underrated players in the NBA (17 and 7 last year)
Andre Iguodala is good (20, 5, 4, 2) last year
Thaddeus Young was sick and killed it during the playoffs (13, 7, 2, 1, 1 against detroit)
Elton Brand is mr 20-10
Sammy D is dumb but still finished 4th in the NBA in bpg and averaged a double double.

Throw in rising star Lou Williams, Marreese Speights, Reggie Evans, Willie Green, and Jason Smith and you have a pretty good team right there.

#2 seed in the East? na dont think so,

but #4-5, sure why not?

I respect your outlook 100%.

It's also hard for outsiders to notice, because they don't get to watch the games on a daily basis. You can take Artest's name out of there, he will be gone very soon.

Beno isn't one of the worst point guards in the west. He is better than the following teams point guards, Golden State, Memphis, Denver, Oklahoma City, Portland*, Minnesota, Lakers*, Houston*.

*- I think everyone will bash me for these, but I'm going to explain why Beno is a better PG than those teams.

Portland- there is no doubt that Bayless will be a better player, but not a better POINT GUARD. He is very similar to a Monta Ellis, not true PG's.

Lakers- I know Lakers fans are going to be like "are you kidding me" but look as a PG, Fisher isn't that great. He is a good consistant shooter, pretty good defender, and a pretty clutch player, but his playmaking ability is pretty bad.

Houston- This is the toughest for me to explain. Rafer benefitted due to Adelman's system. He and Beno are neck and neck, but I'd give it to Beno, because he isn't surronded by the same talent as Rafer.

Keep in mind that Beno was signed pretty late in the season and didn't play until a few games in. He also had a rookie head coach, things can only get better. Call me crazy but I have this gut feeling the Kings will surprise.

Love your standings, but I have a few different views on some of the awards. However, I am not saying your opinion is wrong.
1. All NBA teams - I believe Yao will have a great year, his best year, but Dwight is just awesome. I think Yao would have like 22-25 PPG with 10-11 RPG and 2 BPG. While I think Howard will have 20 -23 PPG with 13-15 RPG and 2-3 BPG. Both stats would be great for both players and I believe the Rockets will win a few more games, but in the end I think Dwight would get 1st team and Yao closely behind on 2nd team.

2. All NBA rookie teams - I think Chalmers, Westbrook, and Mayo would be good enough for first team, but only one will be on it imo. You said Chalmers, however I believe Westbrook will do great in OKC, but Mayo could put up near 20 PPG. More realistic would be like 13-15 PPG and 4-5 APG and 3RPG. While I see Chalmers with 10-12 PPG and 5-7 APG with 2 RPG. Also I see Westbrook with 12-14 PPG and 4-6 APG and 2-3 RPG with the defense of the three (1.5 SPG). All three should have great first years, but I think Mayo gets the nod over Westbrook and Chalmers, who should both be on second team.
Also I believe both Gallinari and Gordon will do good, but it will come to who gets a better chance (more minutes). Gallinari should get great minutes in the rebuilding (getting ready for Lebron) Knicks. (30-32 MPG) While Gordon will be on a playoff contending team, with less minutes coming off the bench. (15-20 MPG)

3. All NBA defensive teams - I believe Dwight will put up more blocks than Duncan and will be a great defender. While I still think Duncan will be an excellent defender, he is getting older, Dwight will beat him out for it and Duncan will happily get honorable mention imo.

This is just my opinion on what you think, I am not saying your wrong.
I agree with everything else and great predictions!

I don't think the Kings are weak, but I do think that if Catfish believes they'll finish ahead of Denver that he's been spending a little too much time with Ron Artest.

Credit for what? They haven't done anything yet.

GS made a major splash with their first round upset last year, and only missed the playoffs by one or two games this year.

Portland looks promising on paper, but they're up against some majorly tough, and much, MUCH more experienced competition. They have a lot to prove before I start giving them the benefit of the doubt, for my part at least.

Potential is only just potential until it translates into actual accomplishment.

no way is that right. i like wat u say bout the cavs, but lebron has got MVP next year locked up. and if we play in the eastern conference championship, were winning!

yea that's right... i forgot that an off-season overseas pretty much guarantees you an MVP season the following year. No way could LbJ get out-played next season by anyone (see CP3, Deron Williams, Bosh, D.Howard, DIRK, Kobe, McGrady, Baron, or the multitude of other ballers that could rock out with thier roosters out next season) at all, so hand him that trophy now; he is from ohio you know.............

I may be bias but with the additions we made + if we get a PF I think we'll def. make playoffs next year even though many have them missing the playoffs

Agreed, if SA/Houston met in the playoffs, it would be an early exit for the Rockets in my opinion.

Any critics of Houston.... I will say this. They started out last season 15-17, trying to figure out a completely new offense with a new coach and incorporating a bunch of rookies. With Yao out for the final 30+ games of the season, they STILL managed to finish the season 55-27, only two games out of first place. Fast forward a year. Those rookies are now improved (Scola, Landry, Brooks). Yao will be back and hopefully healthy. They add a veteran to the bench (Barry) and the 3rd star they've been craving for years in Artest.

So, if they can win 55 games with a bunch of rookies and with their best player injured while trying to adapt to a whole new offense, then how many games should they win with those rookies developed, a healthy Yao, and Ron Artest? Anyone who believes less than 60 is so very wrong....

Very true.

Now that I read that again I have to say I'm sorry if it sounded too dickish, but sometimes you just have to let things run their course, you know?

RF, why don't you wait about one full month and then bump it again? Then it'll be just a couple weeks before training camp, maybe some new posters will have joined, and people will be more focused on the upcoming season than the Olympics, offseason moves, etc. than now.

If Lebron falls they suddenly become a top 7 seed to a lottery spot.

All these predictions are assuming everone is at full health

All these predictions are assuming everone is at full health

Why? Not every player is equally healthy. I mean, I think it makes perfect sense to assume LeBron will be at full health, because there's no reason to believe otherwise. But guys like Nene, Brand, Oden... there are reasonable questions about how their condition will hold up over the course of the following season.

so...

That wasn't clear enough?

So...

...if a certain poster thinks Nene will recover from his cancer surgery and his previous injuries and return to the same kind of shape he was in at the end of the 2006-07 season, they might predict that, as a viable (and perhaps better) replacement for Camby, he might help the Nuggets bag a 6th or 7th seed. But if a poster thinks that Nene will get re-injured during the season, or never fully recover his previous form and/or conditioning, then he might predict that the Nuggets will end up 9th, 10th, or 11th in the West.

The potential for player injuries is a totally valid thing for people to take into consideration when making predictions. At least I think it is.

Kings will make playoffs

I seriously, seriously, seriously, a thousand times seriously doubt the Kings make the playoffs.

They're ridicolous. Kevin Martin and Donte Greene and maybe Garcia will make noise but thats it.

Oh you mean Beno Udrih, Kevin Martin, John Salmons, and Garcia?

And, if the Kings make the playoffs this year, I will quit PSD. This is coming from a Kings fan.

And I'll be right behind you.

We could have made it last year if we'd been healthy, but with Artest out of the picture, Kevin Martin would have to play like LeBron for a year for us to even sniff the playoffs.

Heres how I see the season going

East
1. Bos(don't see anyone beating them)
2. Orl(they keep improving each season)
3. Cle(trade for Mo Williams knocks them here)
4. Phi(will benefit from trade for Elton Brand)
5. Tor(an extra year of playing together, plus they added JO)
6. Det( last year indicated a slow decline is in store)
7. Chi( a bit of a homer pick, but I think they'll rebound from last years disaster)
8. Was( only here because of the big three, didnt do much to improve)

playoffs
Bos vs Was- Bos in 4, Bostons just too good
Orl vs Chi- Orl in 5, nobody on the Bulls can handle Dwight Howard
Cle vs Det- Det in 6, redemption from two years ago is on the Piston's minds
Phi vs Tor- Tor in 6, while EB helps the Sixers improve, he doesn't help them much with their playoff inexperience while JO helps the Raptors in that aspect

Bos vs Tor- Bos in 6, It will take another year or two before the Raptors can hang with an elite team like the Celts

Orl vs Det- Orl in 7, home-court advantage will determine the winner this series, which was more competitve last year than a five-game series would usually indicate

Bos vs Orl- Bos in 6, Dwight will be bottled up in this series defensively as the Celts return to the Finals

West
1.Lal(only here because they have a bench advantage over NO)
2.Noh(almost reached the NBA final four, will be good again next season)
3.Hou(If Ron-Ron behaves himself, and T-Mac and Yao can be healthy for a season, they could be even better than this)
4.Uta(here only cause they'll win the Northwest division)
5.Sas(with Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, and Pop they'll still be good, but they're also aging)
6.Dal(with Rick Carlisle as head coach they'll improve, but not by much in this conference)
7.Pho(didnt do too much to improve, they make the playoffs only because of Nash and Stat)
8.Por(showed the NBA how good they were last year and Greg Oden will push them into the playoffs)

Lal vs Por- Lal in 5, great season for Portland but Lakers are after more than the playoffs
Noh vs Pho- Noh in 6, great matchup between Nash and CP3 but NO has the better team)
Hou vs Dal- Hou in 5, finally T-Mac wins a playoff series
Uta vs Sas- Sas in 7, home-court advantage

Lal vs Sas- Lal in 6, last year showed the Spurs can't hang with the more athletic Lakers despite receiving numerous opportunities

Noh vs Hou- Hou in 6, this is a tough series to predict, Im going with the Rockets because of their star power in multiple positions

Lal vs Hou- Hou in 6, a bit of a leep of faith here, but I think that the addition of Ron Artest makes an already great defense even better, while giving the Rockets just enough scoring to propel them passed the offensive juggernaut Lakers

NBA Finals
Game 1. Hou
Game 2. Bos
Game 3. Hou
Game 4. Bos
Game 5. Bos
Game 6. Bos
