I was just curious as to see what people think are the best out of division rivals. Keep in mind this is still in the same league, so it can't be Yankees and Mets, but like a team from the NL West and the NL Central.

I always thought the Cubs and Braves had a pretty good rivalry going. Last season they almost brawled. But I've noticed some others, like the Padres and Cardinals. Any ideas?

Red Sox vs. Angels, I guess. They always seem to play each other tough, and we've met up in the Playoffs plenty.

Out of division for the Mets, i'd probably say the Cardinals.

I'd of liked to seen the Phils and Rockies start some sort of rivalry based off of last season's playoffs. I don't think the Phillies really have one

Back in the day (Big Red Machine) Reds vs Dodgers was pretty big for about a decade. Part of the reason Joe Morgan still hates the Dodgers (that and he was a Giants also :D ).

Back in the day weren't they in the same division?

Dodgers vs Yankees was bigger at the time. Don't think the OP wanted AL vs NL stuff. Even though they faced each other 11 times in the WS.

Angels Red Sox is a big rivalry. Texas and NY used to be huge back in the 90s. I would say the Yankees-Tigers were building up before this season

No one out side of the Bay Area really cares about this one, Giants-Angels. I don't think that Angels fans even care. But I'm still mad about 2002. Actually Giants and Angels should be allies and team up to take out the dodgers. My friend also told me that he hates the dodgers, because of 1988. Hes and A's fan.

I know a lot of Cubs fans are still bitter about 1969 and absolutely hate the Mets. I'm not sure it carries over to the players, though.

But yeah, the Cubs and the Braves have a pretty good one going. They've faced eachother in the post-season a few times, and back in the 90's they used to beat up on us all the time.

Didn't the Dodgers and Braves have a pretty good rivalry going on back in the 90's or so?

We only play once every 3 years, so I really don't feel a rivalry between us. I'd much rather play SF & SD yearly, than central and east teams, but oh well.

As for an LAA-BOS rivalry, sure, it's a good series to watch, being that both teams have been playoff bound for the most part of this decade, but BOS holds such a high success rate over us, I feel we'd have to win an OCT series against them before I'd consider it tops. I'm glad you BOS guys think so, though, I was under the impression you don't take us seriously.

Did you not notice the part were I said no one out side the Bay Area cares about it?

You talk like the Giants are bad every year.

Mets and Cardinals. Ever since the 06 NLCS the games have had a playoff type atmosphere.

No sir, I meant no offense to you at all or your team. I meant since our teams only play one series every 3 years, that I don't see it as a rivalry. Nothing to do with the teams performance.

I like Cubs-Mets as someone said. I wasn't even a glint in my father's sperm when 1969 happened but I love how much Ron Santo still hates the Mets because of it.

I think there's a bit of a rivalry there, but most of the real hatred seems to come from the Dodgers side of that. Absolutely nothing more than my opinion, but...

What's up with Giants fans not being able to read:
