The Sacramento Bee, citing a source close to the Pistons, claims the Pistons are interested in trading for Ron Artest.

July 21, Sacramento Bee: As for other teams, here's what I'm hearing regarding a few (and, no, this is not a comprehensive list - just hitting on a few of the lesser talked-about potential Artest destinations)...
Detroit: Could this be why Artest was so interested in interviewing brawl instigator John Green a while back? It would be a brilliant PR move if the Pistons were looking to put a package together for Artest.

And from what I was told from one source close to the Pistons, they are. I've yet to get this info from more than one person, so stay tuned. But much like the Mavs' situation, this could be one of those where the player the Kings want (perhaps Tayshaun Prince) would be different than the one offered (Jason Maxiell, anyone?). Pure speculation on my part in terms of the potential pieces.

As long as we don't somehow end up with Rasheed.

I'd be quite happy if we got Tayshaun Prince. I think he is still kind of young.

Prince is 27 or 28. Stuckey would be great but Dumars is no fool so I'm sure he's untouchable.

I also wouldn't mind Maxiell. An super athletic, defensive minded power forward like him would be the perfect complement to Hawes in the future. Only negative coming with him is the time he could take away from Thompson.

If we could get rid of SAR, K9, and Moore somehow (maybe draft picks or cash) at the same time and trade Artest to Detroit, I think this Lineup would kill:

PG Udrih/Singletary
SG Martin/Garcia/Douby
SF Prince(?)/Salmons/Garcia
PF Thompson/Williams
C Miller/Hawes

I'd be all over this trade

That would be awesome. Rasheed is an expiring, Maxiell could take over Williams spot cause he sucks, and we would get Prince!

I don't see why the Pistons would do that.

Because they can.... Idk.

If Marion is the Matrix then Maxiell is the Matrix Reloaded. He blocked Tyson Chandler on an alley-oop. I didn't think anybody would be stupid enough to even attempt to block him on an alley-oop let alone actually do it. That could have been the biggest poster of the year, but it turned out to be the block of the year. Maxiell would be sick on the Kings.

It would be cool to have him but we just drafted a total stud. Also, we have 3,764 power forwards.

Yeah, but what's 3,765 anyway? Ok, I'm not saying we necessarily need him, but he's sure a lot scarier when he's on another team then if he was on ours.

I really don't think that Artest wants to be in that arena for 2-4 games a season, let alone 41. I really doubt a deal gets done.

I think this is pretty fair

Kings get- Sheed, Prince, Maxiell,

Pistons get- Ron, Miller, Cisco, Sheldon Williams

Id rather Give up Ron, Miller , Sheldon for Prince and Sheed. The only problem is that this trade would change how the pistons play, and i don't know if they want to take that risk right now.

I don't think we should give up Cisco. I'm fine with the rest of that. Maybe throw in Douby instead.

If we would have to give up Cisco to make the deal work i would still do it.

As I alluded to the other day here, I was told the one and only Detroit Pistons are considering a move for Ron Artest.
The one-and-only status, of course, comes because they're the one and only team you'd think would never touch the mercurial small forward in light of the context. But if Charles Barkley can beat another living, breathing human being in a foot race (even if it was just Dick Bavetta), well then impossible can happen.
Sure enough, a second source close to the Pistons has indicated that Pistons are pondering a trade for Ron-Ron. I'm not sure of the opinions of the Pistons powers-that-be - namely team president Joe Dumars and owner Bill Davidson - but it says plenty that the chatter surrounding the mere idea is spreading around them. And Dumars, for the record, may be glad this is getting out since he is reportedly tired of fans thinking he's sitting on his hands.
The piece that gets it done here is Tayshaun Prince, and the Pistons are - according to ESPN's Chris Broussard - have already considered other moves that include their stars. A Kings source tells me they have not called Sacramento, and I wouldn't be shocked if no one else had recently either. I'm told it's quiet enough that Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie is heading out for a vacation, which means we have something in common.
I'm checking out for a few days on this end as well, and will chime in upon return... - Sam Amick

That would be reallyyyy weird seeing Artest as a Piston. Pretty much the last player I would expect to one day play for Detroit.

That's definitely true, and it was probably Steve Bartman who did it or something. But you have to wonder. How would the fans react to him being on the team?

man i just wish we would trade artest already, but then again i do want the best trade possible and if we can package k9 with artest than that would be great... i also wouldnt mind trading miller and salmons or douby for sum expirings, miller is old so we should trade him why he still has sum value left...

They'll react like any other other team would in that situation..they'll hate him for a little while, then when they realize how much better he makes their team...they'll love him.
