It's a long shot, but Jordan Brower thinks he may know how to bring the Sonics back to Seattle, or at least give Seattle residents a chance to vote on whether they really want to let the basketball team out of its KeyArena lease.

The Seattle City Council voted Monday to terminate the lease early and collect $45 million from the team's out-of-state owners and allow them to move the team to Oklahoma City.

But the ordinance doesn't take effect for 30 days after it is signed by the mayor, giving residents and basketball fans time to collect enough signatures for a referendum and giving voters a chance in November to overturn the ordinance.

This is a very difficul process and would take an extreme amount or organization for it to even have a chance of getting done. Its positive news but I think the sonics are dead in Seattle for now..

yeah, way to late to bring the team back. They already have 16,000 people that have signed up for season tix in OKC...they're off to a great start there.

David Stern is an idiot. Someone ought to take the Knicks out of NYC and shift them to Pittsburgh while they're at it.

Seattle didn't want to lose their team but the NBA took it away anyway. STOGGAF!!!
