LAS VEGAS -- The Los Angeles Clippers have identified the latest target in their recovery from the free-agent loss of Elton Brand by agreeing to terms on an offer sheet with restricted free agent Kelenna Azubuike of the Golden State Warriors.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers have extended a multi-year offer using their estimated $3 million in salary-cap space left over after completing a trade Tuesday with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their primary Brand replacement.

The Warriors will have seven days to match the offer when the deal is completed, but the Clippers would appear to have a good chance of emerging from that wait with Azubuike. Although the England-born swingman was beginning to blossom under coach Don Nelson in Oakland, Golden State has Monta Ellis, Corey Maggette and Stephen Jackson ahead of Azubuike in Nelson's rotation as well as 2007 first-round pick Marco Belinelli.

Azubuike is still developing after just two seasons in the league but has shown flashes of the ability to score from the wing that the Clippers need after Maggette signed a five-year deal worth an estimated $50 million with Golden State last week. Going to Los Angeles would reunite Azubuike with new Clippers guard Baron Davis after they spent the bulk of the past two seasons together with the Warriors.

Golden State, meanwhile, will learn Friday whether it can finally add Los Angeles Lakers restricted free agent Ronny Turiaf to its roster. The Lakers are widely expected not to match the Warriors' four-year, $17 million offer sheet to the energetic power forward with promising center Andrew Bynum scheduled to rejoin the team in training camp and partner with Pau Gasol on L.A.'s front line.

We won't. You're getting a very good player. He just needs the playing time.

Honestly Azubukie would put up the same numbers that Corey puts up if he played the minutes that Magette plays. He is less selfish offensively..and he's a better defender. The Clippers get a cheaper better defensive version of Corey Maggetee for 3 mil per year..While Golden state breaks the bank for a much more expensive version of a guy they already had

The Clippers are making good basketball decisions..What the hell is going on in the World?

i like this guy, he's going to help the clips out alot!

the only thing is it kind of sucks that they got camby because they could have got someone better offensively, but wutever, it looks like there starting to become a decent team.

As a clippers fan I am very concerned. The Warriors are not the best team in the league yet we keep picking up their cast offs. How is this good for our team? I think its more stupid is waht stupid does. Damn how about picking up some really talented payers not some teams 8th or 9th player off the bench.

Azubukie is a talented player tho. Give him 20 -25 minutes a game and he will give you 12-14ppg 4 boards and a couple of assists.

Not necessarily... Some players just need playing time to become great. Look to Jermaine ONeal, when healthy, he was simply a backup in Portland before being traded. Now he's a great player (again, when healthy) that people respect.

As for that Golden State's fan's comment earlier (Saucy), yes, it would be wise if Golden State did a sign-trade to Memphis to get either Conley or Crittenton, but Memphis would hardly be a team willing to do such a deal and take on even just a little more salary. Golden State's best hope is to trade Al Harrington to Chicago for KH cause their overload at the guard position. It'd make sense for both teams, and if KH plays like he did the year before the last, he'll be a great pickup that keeps Monte at the SG, lets Maggette play the SF as he SHOULD, and let Stephen Jackson be the 6th man off the bench.

don't be. there's a reason why many warrior fans loved him. you'll eventually see that for yourself. i hope the warriors match coz he's one of my favorites. either way i wish him well. he has a bright future. i'm sure he'll be better with more playing time.
