ESPN's Stephen A. Smith reported on ESPN late Tuesday night that he spoke with McGrady and that McGrady wouldn't mind a trade to Detroit.

Said Smith: "It's certainly not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. It's not as if Houston and Detroit has even talked yet. But is Detroit interested? Definitely.

"Is Tracy McGrady interested? Yes he is. I spoke to Tracy McGrady earlier. His basic thing is he's very happy in Houston but he wants to win. So whatever is a winning situation for him is something he is more than willing to entertain."

Smith said McGrady "has all the faith in the world" in Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars, but "if nothing happens he's not going to sneeze at remaining in Houston with Yao Ming either."

Of course they are interested, but I don't see Mcgrady getting traded this year. Maybe next year if the Rockets lose in the 1st round again.

They must trade Rip Hamilton and either Sheed, McDyess or Billups. Trade is not likely to happen though.

McGrady is an idiot. His quotes like these make me cringe. I hope a deal goes through, but Rip Hamilton is essential.

Rip and Chauncey for T-Mac, Head, Hayes

If I were Detroit and Houston, I'd want Chauncey/Rip to be the package...

Chauncey
Rip
Shane
Scola
Yao

Stuckey
TMac
Prince
McDyess
Sheed

I think it makes both teams a lot better.

McGrady ain't worth Rip and Chauncey. I'd be reluctant to include Rip for him, but both? Never.

If i'm Detriot, i'm not giving up Rip... I'd give up Chauncey... But, Rip was the only consistent guy last year down the stretch other than the rooks... On the other hand, I wouldn't want Chauncey if I were Houston... I would demand Rip instead...

I would offer Chauncey and Sheed if I were Joe...
If I were Houston, I would demand Rip and Sheed...

No way this deal gets done...

we would be happy as long as we dont trade billups, we would most likely have to give up rip and prince though

The Rockets should trade Tracy for Rip and Sheed.

If that were to happen, their lineups would be:

Houston:
C-Yao
PF-Sheed
SF-Battier
SG-Rip
PG-Alston

Detroit:
C-Maxiell
PF-Mcdyess
SF-Tayshaun
SG-T-Mac
PG-Billups

I like Houston's line-up more.

The deal would have to be:

Pistons get:
Tracy Mcgrady

Houston gets:
Chauncey Billups
Tayshaun Prince

This deal works for both sides. The Pistons get a better replacement for Prince in the starting lineup in McGrady and Billups leaving allows Stuckey to take over the starting job. Houston gets better and deeper with Billups as the starter and Alston backing him up as well as Prince starting and Battier backing him up. Both teams benefit.

What does everyone think?

BTW, it works on the Trade Machine.

You failed to mention the Pistons would be giving up their best defender. And ultimate glue man.

There was nothing wrong with his quote. He said he wants to win, and he'd be open to player there. Big deal. That's nothing.

I don't know if Billups would be more likely to be traded than Rip, but the addition of Prince would allow the Rockets to trade Battier & whatever else for Artest, IMO.

Let's say yours works. Prince & Billups for T-Mac. Then Battier and maybe Brooks for Artest.

PG - Billups/Alston
SG - Artest/Barry
SF - Prince
PF - Scola/Landry
C - Yao

i dont get wat the pistons are trying to do with gettin t-mac.

i think they should just re-build and get full value for their players.

the group they have isnt winning another title, so they gotta change it up. but getting t-mac doesnt solve anything. especially wen they will be trading at least 2 starters.

Pistons are trying to rebuild while still staying contenders. T-mac gives them the go to scorer they don't have, and at the end of the season Rasheed's big contract goes off the books giving them the potential to sign another big name. Right now the roster has plenty of young talent with Stuckey, Maxiell, Afflalo and Johnson. In fact, Stuckey and Maxiell might be starting next year if this trade happens.

I wish there would be a big blockbuster trade such as this one. T-Mac is a great player who would be better than Kobe and the top player in the league, if he wouldnt be so injury prone and his back was alright. But due to his injuries he never got to be as good as he could be IMO. I know im gonna get some hating for that. lol
