The count has now reached double digits.

After Saturday night, the Pirates have used 10 different starting pitchers through the first 93 games of the 2008 season.

That number could grow with Phil Dumatrait on the disabled list and Tom Gorzelanny trying to find his control in Triple-A Indianapolis. When the second half begins in Colorado on Thursday, the Pirates will be scrambling to find two more spot starters for July 19 and 21.

"It's hard to go through a 162-game schedule with only five guys that can make every start," manager John Russell said. "It just happened to hit us all at once."

The Pirates haven't had a complete starting rotation -- Dumatrait, Gorzelanny, Ian Snell, Zach Duke and Paul Maholm -- since June 17-21. After that week, both Dumatrait and Snell went on the DL, leaving the Pirates with few options.

The Pirates have definitely had their share of injuries during the 1st half, especially with the pitchers. If all the pitchers can get back to being healthy, then maybe we can get hot in the 2nd half and get some momentum going towards next year.
