I'm sorry, i consider that baiting. His comment should be deleted because it was thrown in there only to insult and offend. If i were to say that the Lakers were the "Los Angeles Homo's" (hypothetically), it would be deleted, so his should to.

I love how the people on here are not picking the Bulls/Hawks/Wizards to not even make the playoffs, yet they have them higher then playoff teams you guys picked in other threads.

I'll make mine later.

The Sixers were a play-off team last year, they got in not because of luck, they earned it. Then they aquired the best PF out on the market which was the position they need and about half of you don't have them as a top 8 team in the play-offs. I don't get your logic at all. I know I sound like a homer, but it is reasonable they are a play-off team.

Wow! The sixers earned what? Being the best of the worst? They were in the very weak eastern conference. They were 40 wins and 42 losses and they earned it? Granted they went and got a good PF, but please don't say they earned anything last year. Please do not insult your team like that. They haven't earned or played to their potential since Dr. J.

That is as bad as saying that Ryan Howard deserves a spot on the All-Star team in baseball.......... .234 hitter.

i also believe portland is to high up there people have them placed at 10 - 15 i think portland is an 8th seed west team at best at this point. They are a very talent but young team, and until they become more experience i just dont see portland that high

frizbo72
07-16-2008, 09:12 AM
You have to go Celtics 1 and Lakers 2 but after that you have about 5 western teams that are interchangable. My only bone is I see a lot of people putting Houston ahead of Utah. After watching the last two years and even beyond that I don't think Houston desearves to be in the top 8 overall until they earn something when it counts.

Yes they earned it they were good enough in the East. It doesn't take much to make the play-offs, it wasn't like so many other teams didn't play up to their potential so they got lucky enough to make it. They were 40-42, good enough to earn a spot in the East. I admit they earned being the best of the worst. They can't choose how good the conference, they were a bad team last year in an awful conference and they played well enough to make it.

Phitin Phan I see your point. I just expect more from the sixers. I think they will have a good year in 08/09 and I think they should be a little higher on the power rankings. I would have them in my top 15 to 12 when I do mine. To many changes going on for power rankings this early.

Yeah i think we should be 14-17 in the power rankings. When we are healthy we are better than the Clippers, Warriors, and maby even the Nuggets since they are without Camby now. We are going to be fighting for the 7th or 8th spot. Still, just because someone believes there team is going to do well doesn't warrant a blatant insult. Its not to far of a stretch what Beno said, at least we arn't saying the Kings are going to be #1...if he did then yeah he has a point. But we didn't.

I might be asking too much of these rankings (which is why I find them rather useless and silly), but can we just skip out on the hometeam bias? Everyone keeps thinking that when their team is healthy, they're the best, or at least top 3.

This is just like those AP polls for college football that try to project the top teams in the nation before the season starts. So, like my opinion on what any and all ranking polls should be like, can we simply wait like a week or 2 before we give our early power rankings, or better yet, 20 games in? Is it alright to simply have something useful as a guide?

Otherwise if we assume everyone stays healthy and plays to their potential for every team, Dallas wouldn't be a team vying just to make the playoffs as they were last year, and people projecting Portland a playoff berth till something can be used as a guide of how they play in the NBA in the regular season.
