James Posey and Eddie House, key reserves in the Celtics' NBA championship run last season, last night expressed a desire to remain with the team, in their first public comments regarding free agency.

"That's my No. 1 choice," said Posey. "I've stressed that to the organization and to everybody. At the same time, I'm still waiting. So we'll see what's going to happen."

This isn't news. Everybody knows Posey wants to go back to Boston. But are the Celtics willing to give him what he wants?

The Cs should sign both of them because they were integral parts in winning that title. Plus good role players with playoff experience are not easy to come by.

And I'm not surprised. Thats the smart choice. Stay with the best team. They do have the best chance of winning again, although I'm not saying they will. I didn't expect him to leave Boston.

Can the C's offer more than MLE for Posey??

The C's are dumb if they don't sign him!

Even though I agree with what you're saying the fact still remains that this might be the last contract Posey will have the chance to make some big bucks so this isn't just about going to the best team. I'm not saying he's gonna pull a Ben Wallace but he will consider that aspect of the whole situation as well.

He's definitely going to the team that offers him a mix of the longest contract and best money. And that team will be a contender. Posey is just an average player on a team w/ no championship aspirations. Just because Posey says Boston is his number 1 option doesn't mean he's going to resign there. They still have to meet his demands. That's just the place he'd rather be.

I don't think they can because they don't his bird rights. Plus they are way over the cap so maybe that's why they are not offering him the full MLE.

I don't think they need him, however I do think they need someone to come off the bench to score unless they move Ray their.

They're coming back most likely. Posey is an important asset to Celtics.
