regardless of how you feel about this game representing home field in the WS as a cub fan you should be glued to the tv tonight. This could end up being a big game in our season. Terry Francona is the manager, not Joe Girardi or Joe Torre. He doesn't give a **** about Rivera's yankeeography, he wants home field for his team in the WS. If it's a save opportunity, he'll go with the unquestioned best closer in baseball, K-Rod, or if anything else....his own guy in Papelbon.

No, but only for the same reason I wouldn't bet on A-Rod getting a base hit or the AL getting the win - I'd prefer they don't happen. Simply put, I'd much rather have the NL facing Rivera down by 1 in the 9th than K-Rod, so I'm not gonna put myself in a guaranteed win-lose scenario.

Or lose-lose, should Mo actually nail down the save.

Latest news: Lincecum has the flu, and likely can't pitch tonight. It seems like more than half of the NL pitching staff can't go, either because of bad timing with rest days or whatever. Relievers excluded, outside from Sheets, Z, and Demp - who's still available? I know for a fact Webb isn't, do we atleast have Volquez?

Papelbon said he wants it. Francona said he wasn't saying who'd get it. Then, yesterday...Papelbon said he wants Rivera to have it.

So ****, maybe he'll get it. I hope he does - but if Terry Francona genuinely cared about winning the game, he wouldn't.

Well, I normally dont care about the AS game at all, but since we've actually got something riding on it for once (potentially), I'm going to suffer through it and watch it.

Plus, as much as I would rather not see these guys place to get an extra day off, I'm excited to see our boys get into the game and hope they play well.

But I will say this, it's very cool to see the HOF players on the field. Very nice touch.
