Newman and Penske to part ways at end of season: UPDATE: Penske Racing and Ryan Newman have mutually agreed to move in new directions at the conclusion of the 2008 season. "We want to thank Ryan for his hard work and contributions to Penske Racing over the past nine years," said team owner Roger Penske. "We wish Ryan all the best for the future and we'll continue to focus our efforts on making the Chase with Ryan and the Alltel Dodge team this season." The driver of the Penske Racing #12 Alltel car for the 2009 NASCAR Cup season will be announced in the near future.(Penske Racing PR)(7-14-2008)

He will be going to Chevy. The only question is who, either RCR in the 33 and get that car in the top 35 in owner points or a 2/3rd Stewart Haas Racing where could be out of the top 35. Not worried about qualifying with him though.

Also, David Stemme will take over the 12. Petty Enterprises will pursue him though.

If Newman doesn't go with Stewart and Mears doesn't go to RCR, I'll be pretty surprised.

As an RCR fan, I would rather have Newman than Mears. I have no stats or facts to back me other than preference. I just feel that Newman actually has the potential to win some races with the right cars. Mears is in the Hendrick crew and can't do ****.

I bet if Bowyer was with Hendrick, he'd do **** too. Mears might just need a change of scenery.

its tough to win races when your consistantly having to get use to a new team in crew chief... im actually kinda mad hendrick is letting mears go, I think if he could just stay at 1 team for 2 whole seasons, the results would come

Absouloutly right. Where ever he goes, the owner of the team should try and reunite him and Jimmy Elledge who was his crewchief in the 41. They had ton of succsess together

^^^ the started seeing results with him in his last year there, and even him and darien grubb i think did a great job with only 1 year together in the 25 car, if they would have stayed together I think he would be doing a lot better than he is now, and would probably still have a ride with hendrick
